Poor tufts & wesleyan, spend a fortune without getting any results. =). It's like people who buy Bose. =).

Ha! Not even close!

Ranking of mascot weight and size (in kilograms):

Tufts - Jumbos (Huge elephant)
Williams - Ephs...aka Purple Cows (LOL)
Bowdoin - Polar Bears (Big bear)
Connecticut -Camels (self explanatory)
Colby - Mules (An ass)
Middlebury - Panthers (Big cat)

Bates - Bobcats (Large cat)
Trinity - Bantams (Chicken)
Wesleyan - Cardinals (Small bird)

^ What about the Ephs or the Lord Jeffs?

I bet Lord Jeff weighed more than a Chicken!

I forgot to add those.

Amherst - Lord Jeff (high ranking officer in the army)
Hamilton - Continentals (18th century US soldier)

Relation to my family:
1. Williams (S1)
2. Middlebury (S2)
3. Amherst (friend's son goes to Umass)

Tufts - $131,000,000
Wesleyan - $8,036,000
Williams - $3,459,000
Amherst - $2,725,000

(I think you forgot Smith.)

"rank the nescac" =)

Eph is actuallly a Ephraim Williams (a soldier) and the Cardinal of Wesleyan is not a bird - probably both weigh about the same as Lord Jeff.

It took the reverse alphabetical ranking to get Trinity out of last place in every category. They're the Mississippi of the NESCAC. (Although they would rank first in a listing of squash programs.)

haha the weight of mascots might be my favorite ranking ever.

No, it is a bird. Methodists have bishops, not Cardinals.

"Amherst - Lord Jeff (high ranking officer in the army)"

Only one celebrates an early practitioner of genocide. (The College is actually named after the town; only secondarily after the murderer.)

Can you imagine calling a sports team "the Eichmanns"? :o

Oh, that was a goodie. :p

I think that Wesleyan is the real shocker here. I can understand the absence of Starbucks in the immediate vicinity of Middebury VT, Williamstown MA, or Clinton NY, but what's up with Middletown CT? Doesn't Middletown seem like a good place to put a coffeeshop?

That's 'cause there are three Dunkin Donuts in Middletown, and the coffee is better.

The Starbucks nearest Hamilton and Williams aren't traditional stand-alone coffeehouses. The one nearest Hamilton is actually in a New York Thruway rest area, and the one nearest Williams is actually in a Target department store.

The distances to the nearest "real" Starbucks from these schools would be even greater. But you get the idea.
