With apologies, to Hamilton, Amherst and Weslyan. We'd had enough of the NESCAC after that!!

That's 'cause there are three Dunkin Donuts in Middletown, and the coffee is better.

This changes everything.

There is no way to create a meaningful ranking of NESCAC schools based on proximity to Dunkin' Donuts -- because every NESCAC school is close to (within 1.5 miles) of Dunkin' Donuts.

But not close to THREE of them. ;)

You could compute winter walking time to a DD.

NESCAC Schools Rated

Possibly the most definitive measure of progress and civilization in the Northeastern US.

100+ Tufts (website only returns up to 100 results)

13 Wesleyan
12 Bates
5 Bowdoin

I highly doubt tufts has over 100 Dunkin Donuts within 5 miles....

This is the best thread ever!

Then I invite you to visit the handy Dunkin' Donuts Store Locator. Enter "419 Boston Avenue, Medford, MA", which is the address for Dowling Hall. Set the search distance to 5 miles and submit.

You will get a list of 100 distinct, named, and mapped Dunkin' Donuts locations, at distances of 0.15 to 4.58 miles from the entered address. I think there are actually more within the 5-mile zone, but the computer stops after the first 100.

Note that a radius of 5 miles is equivalent to a circle with an area of 78.5 square miles (area = pi * r-squared). So it works out to an average of about 1.3 Dunkin' Donuts per square mile. Does this really seem unreasonable for the Boston urban area?

It's not crazy at all. For example, if you ask the Store Locator to map locations within a 1-mile radius of Tufts, it will show you 8. So that's 8 stores within 3.1 square miles, which represents a Dunkin' Donuts Density (DDD) of 2.6 per square mile. That's twice as high as the average value for the 5-mile radius.

I wish STL still had Dunkin Donuts.

as a person who really likes Bowdoin i think these are totally legitimate ratings
go Bowdoin

oh and just btw
there is no way a cow is bigger than a polar bear!

polar bears weigh 500-600 kg on average
most cows are killed before they reach 750 kg

conclusion?
Williams>Bowdoin

You're talking about normal cows.

SPOILER: Purple cows don't weight anything because they aren't real.

Conclusion?
Bowdoin > Williams

Coincidence?

You might be able rank NESCACs by strangest college-themed gift items. For example:

Bowdoin Socks made from Recycled Bottles - "Show your Bowdoin pride and save the environment one step at a time in these white socks made from recycled plastic bottles" - $8.99 from store.bowdoin.edu

"Jumbos" logo T-shirts - Popular with Tufts grads who want to look like they've put on weight. $17.98 from tufts.bncollege.com

Williams Squeeze Cows - "Black & white foam squeeze cow with Williams printed across the top of the back. These stress relievers are not toys and must be kept away from young children due to the risk of choking." - (that's right -- Williams Squeeze Cows are for adults only). $4.99 from williams-shop.com

Corbett, I think I am going to do a study on that. I wonder if Dunkin Donuts is attracted to great LACs?

Or students who prefer LAC's are drawn to Dunkin Donuts? My older son arrived home last night, announced he was hungry, and headed off to ... Dunkin Donuts. There are no Dunkin Donuts near his LAC.
