But, honestly, it's really up to you. Do you prefer alphabetical or by founding date? Ascending or descending order?

I'll try to match it to you, specifically, because that's best.

1 = Lawrenceville. Lawrenceville begins with an "L" and that's the first letter of all three of the words in your screen name. It's kismet, if you ask me.

2 = Middlesex. Love...from your name sometimes goes hand in hand with sex, from Middlesex's name.

3 = Hotchkiss. Love..Kiss...see comment #2, above.

4 = Exeter. X is a symbol for kiss. See comment #3, above.

5 = Taft. Four letters. Two of the three names in your username also have four letters. There's a certain harmonic wave that connects you to this school, astrologically speaking.

6 = Loomis Chaffee. If I had been on my toes, it would be #2 because it also starts with an "L." Maybe even #1 because it uses 2 words, which is closer to a match to your 3 word user name. But I got to this point before noticing and I don't feel like cutting and pasting. And there's a cosmic reason behind my realizing this until just now, so 6 it is.

7 = Deerfield. Dear is a term of affection and deer is a homonym for dear and see #2 or 3 above.

8 = St. Paul's. It just fits here because the other two that are left I'm saving for 9 and 10. Don't go to St. Paul's if you can help it. The fact that it was sort of invisible to me and is just being slotted here because it's not as awful as the last two schools proves that it has no intrinsic value to you.

9 = Groton. I just don't like the name, frankly. Euphonically speaking, it evokes memories of my dead cat spitting up a hairball.

10 = Andover because it's really Phillips Academy. Andover is just the town that it's in. That's sort of like calling St. Paul's "Concord," no? The tarot cards don't smile on you for this school.

Of course, if I had just written those names down in order without any explanation, you might have taken my word for it that I'm not full of it. And you have no reason to assume that anyone else who's answering this isn't likewise full of it -- even if they're totally sincere in giving you a ranking. Even if they give you some plausible explanation for that matter. So, considering that the answers you receive here provide nothing useful to you (that I can imagine), I'm curious as to why the question was asked and what you intended to do with the results.

You can get a superb education at any one of those ten schools.

You can be miserable at any one of those ten schools, and end up not doing as well as you might have. I think the chances of being miserable are much greater for an applicant who focuses on a school's ranking, rather than on "fit".

I agree with Periwinkle

I actually applied to those schools too and i had an interview with a Phillips Acadamy representative and the school seemed so great.

It really depends on if your going for a boarding school or day school. Your best fit is the best one.

I also heard Windsor is a great school and is an all girls school.

I also heard that Windsor does many events with Roxbury Latin school?

Let.Love.Live may just be intested in people's opinions, D'yer. It's an interesting thing, to look at how people rank schools.

I had to add Choate!
So, this isn't my assessment of which schools are better academically or anything, but which ones are the ones I think are best just in my opinion. (atmosphere, etc.) And most of the schools are hearsay from people I know who go there, so this shouldn't be verbatim at all.

haha, d'yer, your post made laugh! i totally agree!

I must disagree with Janelle.
I for one think DM's post was extremely unnecessary and it's only purpose was to embarrass Let.Love.Live. Why would you even spend 10+ minutes thinking that up? I feel sorry for LLL that she had to be subjected to the 'almighty d'yer maker' when it was her very 1st post. She was so young.
Do you think it's possible to formulate a post that is constructive and not demeaning to 12 year old 8th graders? Browsing through your answer on the innocent football question I see its a habit of yours. Please refrain.

i don't think he meant it meanly crickett-i just thought it was kinda funny. but Liet. Love. Live, i do think it's an interesting question. sorry if you were offended by anything. But as to my opinion of the best i think they are andover, exeter, SPS and maybe deerfield. not really sure though, i'm pretty new to this whole process.

I'm sure people will regard my new answer as being much more meaningful, now that I've provided no explanation for how I came up with my new ranking. I'm also certain that everyone else's unwritten explanation for their rankings are unburdened by whimsy, irrationality, capriciousness and misinformation. These other answers are all more reliable and authoritative and constructive than my first answer...um...in what way?

@ crickett234: "She was so young." Really? And past tense dramatics, too? I doubt that the OP is all that young because the OP later gave an opinion on the range of PSAT scores a rising junior would need to be considered at Exeter. Did the OP say that s/he is an 8th grader? A self-described parent asked a similar question recently and I gave a similar answer...with the same quite sincere reply question: why does it matter and what will you do with the results?

How could you not remember this response to a first-time poster as you sat in your glass house? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/4930167-post57.html

And how do you feign indignation over this while persistently referring to another poster by her (somewhat distinctive) real-life first name?

1- Again with the sarcasm. Instead of assuming we can pick up false negatives over the internet, why don't you say what you really mean?

i.e. "I'm sure people will regard my new answer as being much more meaningful" vs "People wont regard my new answer but here it is despite that".

2- The first response wasn't meaningful to any degree. At least others are giving ACTUAL opinions. So what if they are unresearched? She asked for opinions and people obliged.

3- Did I not apologize?

4- She posted it and introduced herself as it and it is what I will continue to call her.

I couldn't be more serious about anything I've posted here. I am CERTAIN that that is true exactly as written.

Dyer, I was very disappointed by your sardonic responses.
Like Crickett said, this Was my ever first thread on this website
and I was just trying to see what other people thought of the
schools that I listed. Is it wrong to ask people about their opinion and
expect an answer that is not provided with an explanation????
(And by the way, I am in the eighth grade. I took the PSAT this year because all the eighth graders at our school had to. The response that I made for the other thread about PSAT was just my opinion based on my results)

Sorry to disappoint, but you received a good first lesson here for all ages: rankings mean squat, especially when they are offered up to you by anonymous people with no context.

This is a point directed as much at those who wish to know what the rankings are as it is to those who presume to know and then answered you with apparently definitive rankings.

You made no mention of age or grade (crickett234 just seemed to know all that, didn't she?) so there was no telling what you wanted to do with the answers. In fact, that's still not clear. I'm still curious as to why you're interested in the rankings. You see, there's nothing wrong with asking...the problem only arises when people make actual real life decisions (to the tune of $50 a pop...and potentially way more than that) after giving some weight to the answers they get.

Along those lines, you might want to tell the person you gave advice to about PSAT scores for Exeter that you were merely giving them your opinion based on your 8th grade results and you have no idea what Exeter is actually looking for in real life. Even though you value "an answer that is not provided with an explanation," I contend that providing a little bit of context can be useful:
