I wouldn’t self-study Algebra 1. That stuff is seriously important.
If you do choose to, please take an online course or something and supplement it with all the practice you can get.
I agree with @awesomepolyglot, algebra is hugely important for later math classes, if you don’t have a solid foundation in algebra the rest of your math house will crumble apart (yes that was my analogy). It’s probably best to take algebra during the school rather than over the summer, even top colleges are only looking for precalc by senior year. However, if you feel the need to accelerate your math sequence, take one of the following routes:
9th- Algebra 1
10th- Geometry & Algebra 2
11th- Precalc
12th- Calc
9th- Algebra 1
10th- Geometry
Summer- Algebra 2
11th-Precalc
12th- Calc
9th- Algebra 1
10th- Geometry
11th- Algebra 2
Summer- Precalc
12th- Calc
If your school allows students to take geometry and algebra 2 at the same time do option one, if precalc at your school is a review of algebra 2 and you can afford to take summer courses, take option two. If your school teaches trig in algebra 2, take option three.
^listen to @IAmNotCreativ ^she’s really smart^ def take her advice
I was planning on practicing it online but iamnotcreatives advice sounds good
Do the second plan @IAmNotCreativ laid out. At most schools, Alg. 2 and Pre-Calc both go over the same concepts, Pre-Calc just delves a bit deeper. If you get the basics of Alg. 2 down, Pre-Calc will strengthen that foundation as well as add to it.
