Asian(well..yeah..)
GPA( 97.25, converted to 4.0 according to my couselor, i think it is weighted, since i know they pull up the scores for honors/ap classes. currentlt 40/985, top 5%, my major classes avg. should be somewhere around high 99s if not exceeds 100. (if exclude art( 70),music(85), and health(90).
Except music, art, health and gym, all other classes are honors( 14) or APs(7, took AP Language 5, calc ab 5, bio 4, us history 3, and taking BC, STAT, PHYSICS, now, could get all 5s cuz i'm more a math&science person)

SAT, took twice, first time M760,R530,W570, second time M750, R580,W570.
SAT 2: MATH 2 800 bio 650 us 640, took on the same day .. not palning to retake.

took all rigorious classes possible in school, dare to say top 1 in math and top 5 in science.

well. i think that's all important stuff.
is it harder fro outofstate student to get in UIUC?
I'm from China,so i only took one year of Chinese class, got 100 on regents and got credits for 3 years, would it affect me?(citizen, went china for elementary school and came back 2007.

Feel free to ask me for more info, first time post something here. thanks !

What college/program are you applying to? Good GPA, Good Course Rigor, Good Class Rank, but SAT is a bit low. The Math subscore is good though. If you’re applying to the College of Engineering, then I’d say you have a decent chance, and I’d rate you as a slight reach only due to your overall SAT composite. Being out of state is not considered, and attending elementary school in China is not a factor.

first of all thanks !!
i know. my SATs are low…T.T… and i am applying to engineering college, so would it be harder to get in or easier for me? i’m a talented +welltrained science &math kid, i tried alot to get 580 on the reading part… as you can see, i jumped up 50 points…
do you think ECs would help me? i am the cofounder of chinese club in my school, and i’ve been a volunteer in NYS assemblymembers’ office for 2 years, will those help ?

ECs are considered, as are the essays. They’re all important parts of the application. However, you’re competing for a limited number of slots available in the programs and the engineering college has the highest requirements in the university. Don’t get me wrong. You have a good chance of getting into engineering, but your SAT Score is below the mid 50% of applicants admitted to Engineering last year. That doesn’t mean you won’t be considered, or that you won’t do well, if you do get admitted. Their goal is to try to assemble the best freshman class they can based on a comparison of the total number of applicants applying. Good luck.

sorry for no replying after a long time. i was overwhlemed by college stuff and totally forgot about this … THANKS !i’ll keep you posted about what will happen to me
