Hello CCer’s,
I would really appreciate any feedback that people could provide on this plan. I am currently a freshman. One important thing to note is that my school offers no AP classes, but lots of people take AP tests after finishing one of the Advanced science classes; however, no classes require that you take an AP test. I plan on majoring in either Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering, and I hope to get accepted into some of the top schools (Harvard, Stanford…you know, the usual obscenely selective schools :D). Also, any courses that are marked with an asterisk (*) will be taken at my local 4-year university.
9th Grade:
Science: Honors Chemistry
English: American Literature (10th graders normally take this class at my school)
Math: Calculus I
History: Colonial History (this is the normal 9th grade history class)
Language: Chinese I (I’m not a heritage speaker)
9th Grade (Summer):
Science: Honors Physics*
Math: Calculus II*
10th Grade:
Science: Advanced Biology (The title of “Advanced” at my school = AP classes)
General Psychology* during first semester
Physiological Psychology* during second semester
English: British Literature (this is the normal 11th grade class)
Math: Calculus III* during first semester, Differential Equations* during second semester
History: Post Colonial History (again, this is the normal 10th grade history class)
Language: Chinese II
11th Grade:
Science: Advanced Chemistry
Conditioning and Learning* during first semester
Abnormal Psychology* during second semester
English: Advanced Rhetoric
Math: Linear Algebra* during first semester
History: East Asian Studies
Language: Chinese III/IV (Chinese III in first semester, Chinese IV in second semester)
12th Grade:
Science: Advanced Physics
Radical Behaviorism* during first semester
English: Critical Theory (this is the highest English class my school offers)
Math: No math this year, as I will already have 5 credits (4 are required)
History: I might not take anything (I have the 3 credits required), but if an interesting class is offered at my local university I might take it.
Language: No language class this year, as I have all 4 credits
A note about electives: Electives at my school are always changing, and are generally quite random (take, for example, Seinology, an elective where all we do is watch Seinfeld). I know I will be taking Journalism all 4 years of high school, but there is no certainty on anything else.
Thank you!
