Because I'm a Sophomore, next year, my class will be the first class taking the NEW SATs!! Which are supposed to be easier, also colleges won't be able to compare the scores as easily, so I doubt they will count as much..

I would love to be an ESL teacher (abroad, perhaps), because languages and teaching are a huge passion of mine and I don't think I could pick just one language!

Please Rate This!! I need feedback!
Thanks!

The head of the Yearbook is called the Captain?

The head of any club (at least at my school) is interchangeably called captain or president

I would appreciate a rate if you were reading it anyway :)

It seems pretty good; I’d rate it a 8.5/10 because of the lack of calculus and honors/AP math courses sophomore and senior year. Will you be taking it as a community college course? Otherwise, I think your ECs and classes are manageable. If you’re really interested in linguistics, you should join a club for the languages you’re taking.

It looks very good to me  its cool that you’re able to take 3 languages. the only thing i would recommend is taking AP Calc senior year, or calc at the college if you’d rather.

If you want to go into a foreign language of some sort this is a great schedule. Maybe try to take a world history course, and volunteer in areas like tutoring immigrants in English.

My school doesn’t have any language clubs :frowning: And starting one would be a lot of effort for not many members, there are very few clubs at my school with over 5 committed members ;(

I did poorly in Honors Algebra 1 so I’m playing it safe taking Standard Algebra 2 (if I find it manageable in the first month and there is an honors class the same period I will switch to it).
I AM able to take AP Calculus at my high school, but I would rather take that online with other college students and get one semester of Trig and one semester of Statistics at the high school.

Remember, when I’m done I will have taken an EXTRA 13 online college courses, on top of the 6 APs at the high school.

Thanks @topaz1116‌ ! This was very helpful!

taking it with the college students is fine, just wanted to make sure you were going to be taking it. Make sure you send your college transcript (especially if they aren’t included on your HS transcript) to universities you plan on applying to (that’s way later, but just a heads up).

@guineagirl96‌ good point! I will not forget!
@BateBate‌ I’m taking Global Problem Solving as the History course you are referring to, and ESL stands for English for Speakers of other Languages, so I am, in fact tutoring kids in English! (I’ve actually been doing that since 6th grade)

It may also be helpful if you post some of the college courses you’ve have taken/plan to take (their generic titles, not the course numbers, simplified if you wish). That might help people better gauge your schedule.

@guineagirl96‌ ahhh good thinking! I’m not 100% sure what I will be taking, but it all counts as AP and they will probably by in the 100-200s

Five college courses for a summer? That’s a little crazy.

Yeah, that actually is. Most community colleges have a credit limit placed on how many credits high school students can take at a time, and that limit is even smaller during summer (since courses are generally accelerated). Two is definitely as far as you should go; I took one this summer, and it wasn’t too bad, but if my parents hadn’t made me drop my second class, I probably wouldn’t have had any leisure time.

@topaz1116‌ @maynotbe‌ It’s online so I can work from home at whatever time I’m free, most are just about 10 hours of work a week. Not bad.

So about 7 hours of work a day, just like a school day, for all five COLLEGE classes and that INCLUDES the HW!!

Maybe try to get some actual real world experience teaching kids English? You could just go around your community targeting immigrants, or you could go above and beyond and do a summer program in a foreign country! A quick google search will give you thousands of results!

@JohnGomez88‌ Being an ESL Tutor is tutoring peers and younger kids who are new to the English language. There are programs abroad, but almost all of them say you have to be 18 and I won’t be 18 until the fall of my freshman year in college :((

There is one, and only one that I found called PueblosIngles where you teach other teenagers in Spain to speak English, but you rarely have internet connection so I wouldn’t be able to do any online coursework for an entire week. So unless there is a scheduling miracle it is unlikely I would be able to achieve this :(( believe me I have researched.
