Pretty standard stuff for MIT. Are you a redhead? They admit 88% of redheads.

Whoa...I don't know what to say to that, for two reasons:

1) I'm not sure if you're lying. Are you serious that 88% of redheads get in? Where'd you find that statistic? Are you just making this all up?

2) How'd the redhead thing come up? I actually am a redhead, that's the scary thing.

apparently they have this Lindsey Lohan thing going on - so males are just out of luck

Your chances are the same as most of the application pool. No better no worse as far as I can tell.

Actually, I'd say your chances are better than the rest of the pool. You've done extremely well so far. Do you know your rank?

unfortunately, only 8% of those who don't understand sarcasm get in

Did you know that 56% of statistics are made up?

How have you taken 13 AP classes and 13 AP test by the beginning of your senior year? Damn, my high school only had 2 AP classes and they were both senior year.

what ethnicity are u?

Sadly, it'd be much easier to determine when knowing your ethnicity.

your scores only get you considered, so you will definitely be considered. Anything else will depend on your ECs (they are good), recs :)

ok my one question for someone who has 2 posts and wants a chances rating is: are you real? if not, who are you kidding? if you are, it seems to be that you would be the person to take the SAT over again for 2400. Besides that, i agree with ^, you are a good candidate but so are so many more people. Hah, if you are anything but Chinese with your stats, you stand a fairly decent chance but I am stereotyping, I think he/she is Chinese. Piano+violin+visit China

that's why I asked for his race lol.

he also said he was a redhead tho

chinese red head... that's great

The grades and scores are great. Now who is the person behind them? What do you love to do, and why is MIT the right place for you?

Your stats make you a viable candidate, but now that you are viable, the question will be what will you contribute to the MIT community. Will you continue to run track, do you dream of building spaceships, are you driven to cure cancer? Until you answer those questions, a prediction of your chances would be inaccurate.

In other words, having great stats is necessary but not sufficient, for admission. Lots of students with "lesser" grades and test scores will get in to MIT and some with "better" ones will not. It's the person behind the stats that will get admitted or not.

Your stats are considered "average" among MIT students; however, I did not see any state/national/international awards--do you have any of these? Most MIT students distinguish themselves on national-level competitions or recognitions (not including national merit scholar--which is not very special). List those out. Also, how about your leadership?

MIT students don't necessarily need national-level recognition in particular, but they do need to stand out of their environment. His stats are well above MIT averages strictly speaking, but nobody here would be wowed by them.

How are 13 5's on AP tests and almost all 800's on SAT's "average" stats for an MIT applicant?
And most applicants CANNOT have national/international level recognitions - there just aren't that many in the country!

I'm not saying he will be definitely accepted - no...but saying that ^this^ is average will simply prevent people from applying

Yeah, thirteen scores of 5 on AP tests is distinctly not average in MIT's admission pool, although I express no opinion about whether there is "fit" for MIT here.
