Rate my chances!

I'm gonna really expand on my ec's, like my comedy club and bwb. What do u say i should really concentrate on improving the most so i can get the max. chance possible from the stats i have right now??? Thanks a lot!

im from andover

This is a tough one. It will definitely be a reach for you. The only thing that is really saving you are the EC's, which aren't HUGELY impressive with an exception of the schools. For a prediction let's say that you get a nearly perfect score on your SATs, win a few more awards, stick with the schools thing, go to Napal and really get involved in that, you probably have a 25-35% chance.
You need to realize how incredibly selective Harvard is. The fact is is that they could afford to be even more selective due to the caliber of who is applying. It is so competitive that your application will be amongst thousands of others, a large majority being absolutely perfect in every way. That GPA and "all regular classes" are what's going to kill your chances. Study hard for your SATs and good luck.

Stop freaking out, even if you don't get into Harvard there is going to be a vast amount of doors open to you.

Thanks RKATC.... i wanna really emphasize the bwb thing, especially if i go to nepal and all the other activities ive done with bwb, and proally the comedy club if i can do a lot with it. The last thing really going for me is piano, which i wanna minor in. I wanna send in a recording of some difficult pieces ive learned and tell them about how piano has affected me. I mean, i spend at least one hour on the weekdays practicing piano and listening to recordings, which ive got like 70-80 cd's. On the weekends i spend like 2-3 hours each practicing and listening to recordings, watching videos, etc. Yea, i gotta stop freakin out. lol. But thanks anyway. The only thing i was worried about was my gpa. I didnt take all reg. classes. Like freshman year, i took ap physics and "honors" spanish. But yeah, i didnt take like 6 ap's any year either. I dont know if ill get in, but i will stop freakin out!

humm i say no cuz ur too hyper ur only a jr. calm down and jus be ready for a "we admire your acheivements but due to limited space" letter...havard isnt a cake walk..u seem to sporadic for that type of school ne ways...maybe come back and talk to us after you have actually taken the SAT and SAT 2..projections dont mean crap

Yes, but you have all of your APs listed, then you end it with "then all reg. classes." You can't have "regular" classes if you want to go to Harvard, not even a couple.

northstarmom, any suggestions???

Are u serious RKATC?? no reg. classes? I know a kid just two years ago who graduated and went to harvard. He took reg. english 9 in ninth grade which is required and he took Integrated Science 1 in ninth too, which is regular but required for all students. This is what i meant by reg. classes, i mean these are required by the school for all students if u have to graduate.

My brother is at Harvard. I can tell you that he was an IB student who took many classes that were even more advanced than the IB cirriculum. Not a single "regular" class. He got straight A's all four years.

As for how much a regular class hurts you, it's tough to say, but it doesn;t help.

See, i just took regular classes to fill my requirements. I didnt go out of my way to fill up regular classes because my schedule was too hard or something. I only took them when needed.

Yes, but you need to take the hardest courses offered across the board. I take APs when offered and Honors and some IB courses, but I also take regular math and I took regular chemistry, I wouldn't stand a chance at Harvard (let's pretend that my gpa and SATs weren't so low).

There really isn't room for reg. (required) classes when there are huge quantities of people applying who have taken the HARDEST classes offered at their school for all 4 years.

Reg classes - (2 in freshman year and one soph. and one junior year) All the rest have been honors or AP or an elective like symphony orchestra

Anyone else have any ideas about my chances or what i should work on improving to make my app bettter?

How about a breather? :)

LOL thanks, i needed that!!!

Anyone Else???????

yo are you sure you go to andover...

what in the world is ap us gov??? we dont have that!

i go to the andover in mich. yea AP Government

oh usually when ppl say andover they mean phillips in MA

yea there are two ones...rumor has it that the two got mixed up once and a kid from our andover got into harvard because the adcom thought that the gpa and stats were from andover ma!
