AP Comp Sci A
AP French 5
AP U.S. History
PreCalculus
Latin
English 11 Honors
Gym + Study Hall
Health + Piano
I had to drop Honors Precalc and AP Biology due to scheduling conflicts, and I’m forced to take a gym class every year as well as a health class at some point during high school. The problem is, now my schedule doesnt appear to be very challenging - I’m thinking of taking either AP Psychology or AP Comp Sci Principles in place of health and piano, and just doing them 12th grade, or perhaps even fighting for AP Physics 1 (But it also removes a study hall which could be useful, and I already have enough science credits to graduate and plan on doing AP Chemistry the following year). What do you guys think I should do?
What is your goal? What major? What type of school?
Because it may be better to focus your schedule aroudn Honors Precal and AP Biology if you are interested in STEM and let other classes fall to the wayside.
If you are interested in humanities then try to take AP english.
My goal is to grt into a decent college, I’m not going for anything super fancy, a top college would be nice but it’s not necessary. I’m interested in STEM, I plan to.major in Comp Sci but I’m also contemplating minoring/doing a dual major of a foreign language/linguistics - Which is why I added Latin and took AP French. I also wasn’t able to take both AP Bio and Honors Precalc since they ran the same periods, and doing either required me to drop Latin, so I decided I’d rather do something else.
We only have AP Literature for 12th grade, no AP Engl ish for 11th graders. Humanities does interest me though.
Right now I’m stuck between AP Psych (an interesting class I know fits in my schedule), AP Principles (Not sure if my schedule works with it but I could check), and AP Physics 1 (one class that would seriously help my major but removes a study hall that I cold use, also I’d have to fight for.) Sorry for my life story. but does that help?
Sadly no, gym is an every other day class and health is a semester course. Even then, Physics in my school demands 1 full free period, and usually a lab period which is an every other day class (usually alternating with gym)
Three APs and an honors-level class sounds challenging to me! I think this schedule looks great – especially because one of those APs is directly related to your planned major. Junior year is (or can be) very stressful as it is, please consider keeping this schedule, it’s already going to keep you busy.
If you want to go into stem, honors precalc would probably give you a better foundation for calculus, but if Latin interests you then you should stick with that.
