I’m not 100% sure. But I would probably take AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Comp Sci, College English (Dual enrollment/AP Lit), Spanish 4, and AP Euro.
Does your school offer only AP courses?
It’s too late to change my junior year schedule and I’m pretty upset about it now. I’ll most likely leave since I’m not really gaining anything by staying here.
Is AP Physics C the class that you were asked to drop? At my kids school that is a second physics course to be taken after Honors Physics and concurrently with calculus. If you were taking it as a first physics class while taking precalc it’s not surprising that you were having trouble. They never should have let you take that in the first place. If you are intent on AP Physics C next year, it’s a good idea to take an intro physics class over the summer at a community college.
Please don’t make a hasty decision. Where did you go to HS for grades 9 and 10…and what made you decide to switch schools.
The senior schedule you are presenting is a very challenging one. All those AP courses and a dual enrollment course. And that includes physics…so please have a plan for being successful and seeking out help in any course before you find yourself not doing well.
Pretty much. They’re only a few courses that are honors. Precalculus, Chemistry, other non-lab sciences (Astronomy, Physics in the arts, etc.), Gov/Econ, and some engineering classes seem to be the only ones. The rest are AP classes or above-AP classes.
I went to private school before. My parents made the decision a while ago that I will not be attending private school anymore after tenth grade. I have never attended a public school before until now. I think switching schools is best because I’m not taking classes that I want to take atm.
The high school that I’m going to now is one of the best (if not the best) high school in my state. I was in private school for a long time and my parents felt as if I would learn more if I went to a different school. I applied to this school because of the rigorous courses they offer. It’s still a good school, but I’m not really getting anything out of it if I’m not taking a science class. I can just go to my home high school and take the classes I want there.
I doubt that you can drop into a science class in November if you switch schools now. As noted upstream, you can take that other science course as a senior. I will say…that’s a very very challenging senior courseload, in my opinion.
Switching schools would now mean that you attended three different high schools. Please think about this before making a hasty decision one way or another.
This sounds like a good school…talk to your counselor and be reassured that you will have the courses you need before you graduate….to apply to the colleges you are interested in attending.
I don’t see anyone here suggesting that you switch schools…so please…talk to your counselor and parents and make an informed decision.
If you have that lab science your senior year, you have it!
Good point!
@4academicvalidation If you have only been talking to your GC/academic advisor/dean, ask to meet with someone in the college counseling office for additional advice. At my D’s school, students were not assigned to a specific college counselor until midway through junior year, but you could request to meet with one at any time on their own or as a group with the academic dean.
As @thumper just posted, you do not have to leave your school. You are doing well to ask these questions now so you have time to adjust and find a better schedule for senior year. Take a deep breath and slow down…you can do this!
I appreciate the advice, but I think it’s probably the best decision for me to leave. I don’t really think my current high school is for me.

Do not make any decisions now. Finish this semester. It would be very difficult to transfer at this point in the fall semester anyway. Study, and do well in your courses now. Talk to your college counselor at your school.
If you are transferring to a public school, you can make that decision in December or even January to start the next semester.
Is your current school (11th grade) a public boarding school? I may have missed that earlier in the thread. If so, some comments in the thread may not be pertinent to your situation, but that shouldn’t matter for the overall message.
Yes, it is a public boarding school for juniors and seniors.
What’s a public boarding school? I’m confused.
I wondered the same thing and had to Google it! Public Boarding Schools
Well, since I just Googled it and learned they existed about an hour ago… I’ll let someone else answer you! @thumper1 educated me. This is the website I looked up.
So it’s not a traditional boarding school, more like a specialized public magnet school that some kids can board at.
My advice holds… Transferring mid semester is a bad idea for Junior year course work, and the student should focus on working hard at his in person courses this year and be sure to take physics wherever he goes next year.
Agree.
