I'm looking at Stanford University so I'm looking at my schedule for next year.
Junior Year:
AP Chem
APUSH
Everything else is honors
Probably self-studying for AP Psych

Here is how it is so far:
AP Physics C
AP Calc BC
AP Economics (Macro and Micro)
AP Comp. Science
Honors Humanities 12 (Gonna ask if I can go to AP since i have an A in the class)

Now the question is: Should I take AP Bio or AP Stats?

I didn't take any AP's freshman or sophomore year which was a huge mistake. I'm a first generation immigrant so everything is new to me. Any help is appreciated.

Given what your school offers, is there any way this schedule could be better?
It probably doesn’t matter much whether you take AP Bio or AP Stats, but AP Bio is generally seen as more challenging.

@halcyonheather From what I’ve heard, AP Stat is either very easy or very hard. If you understand it, you will likely get As, if you don’t understand a bit of it, then you are liable to fail assignments.

@halcyonheather
My school offers most AP’s. Which AP’s will help me?
I have 9 periods in a day. AP Calc BC has one lab day while AP Physics C has two lab days.
Right now, I have 5 and 3/5 of periods done. I have 3 periods left with gym taking up 3/5 of a period.

@observeraffect I’m talented in math and I have straight hundreds on everything in honors pre-calculus. Is it wise to self-study for ap stats this year?

There’s no real reason to self-study AP tests unless you’re interested in the subject or you want to get college credit and it won’t fit in your schedule. For college admissions, it’s preferable that you take the class at school and take the test.

@halyconheather Won’t the self-study make up for the lack of AP’s classes in school or is that a myth?
My plan is to self-study for AP Stats and AP Psych while also taking APUSH and AP Chem. Next year, I’ll take AP Physics C, AP Calc BC, AP Bio, AP Econ, and AP Comp Science (and possibly AP World or AP Gov).

Again, I don’t know if I can take AP Lit or just stay in Honors English.

Also, I’m quite confused. How do colleges determine the rigor of your classes and see that you are taking the most AP’s ever?

It might on some level, but improving your ECs would probably be more helpful than self-studying. It looks like you’ll be taking seven or eight AP classes in school, which is probably enough no matter how many are offered.

Colleges determine the rigor of your classes from your counselor recommendation and school report.

@halyconheather my EC’s are great, but I want to make sure that my course rigor is up to date. Do you recommend any AP’s that stand out to college admission officers?

@Hawkace I was merely mentioning what I’ve heard about stat, I have no idea about how hard it would be to self study and I have not taken it myself yet.

I have taken 3 years of Spanish in high school and 8 years of Spanish over the course of my life. However, I can write, speak, and read Spanish and English. I also can understand Hindi and a tribal dialect in India. I also plan to learn Japanese over the summer in order to participate in an Japanese exchange program. Is that enough?
