I'm worried that this year will be extremely, extremely competitive due to the increased preferred admits and (i believe) more applications from freshmen. Does anybody know anything good/bad about any of my winter semester classes, any tips or anything at all? Any help is appreciated.

Oh, and by the way, I passed out of calc1/2 and econ101 through AP testing so those requirements are out of the way

Your course selection is solid. Econ 310 (Money and Banking if memory serves) is a good course. You have a good shot if you can maintain a 3.8 GPA.

The soc389 course is 3 credits, but its a mandatory credit/nocredit. It actually takes alot of time - 7.5 hours a week in total plus any journal/group work they assign us. So i'm not sure if i should take another course because i'm already at 14 credits

Soc 389 is 1 and half hours of class per week. And 4 hours of comm service through the week. It's not supposed to be too much work at all. You can always take the 2 credit Univ Living course too.

I;d say take another class, see how its going the first two weeks. If it's too much then drop the additional class.
