Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy 3/10

A few good moments, but I would get on my hands and knees and beg someone not to read it if that's what it took (sooooo long and boring).

For those of you who have read Me Talk Pretty One Day and/or Naked, I beg you to go listen to the audio versions. I saw David Sedaris live and his readings are absolutely hysterical, much better than reading it yourself. Six to Eight Black Men is my favorite...I laughed so hard that I cried. 10/10 for both

Angels & Demons - 8/10
I thought this book did a very good job of holding my attention and dragging me into the story. However, I don't think he is a very good writer (his stories are more about the "secrets" and subject matter). His short chapters with a cliffhanger at the end of each annoy me. The endless twists about who the bad guy really is annoys me. One or two I can handle but the final revealing of Janus was just...ick. OMG another plot twist! And another! ooo, four more cliffhangers!...it gets old. Still, I was entertained.

Half-Half Blood Prince - 8.5/10
Ending...well, that speaks for itself but let's just say I was not happy about the length of this book, nor with the handling of the romance. Still can't wait for the final book, though.

Lovely Bones by Alice Seabald (spl?) - 8.5/10
Very interesting book, definitely weird though. If you can make it through the first chapter (not an easy thing, and not because it's slow) then keep going. I like her depiction of heaven and the concept of the book. Disliked some parts and felt that parts could've been cut. Overall, good book but not for everyone.

Survival of the Prettiest by Nancy Etcoff --> 9/10; some useful facts/stats to throw at people if necessary; it definitely confirmed what I already knew to be true...

Half-Blood Prince - 6/10; not really a fan of harry potter, but I read the series just to please a friend of mine - it was far better than the 5th, though the stories have gotten worse since the third one.

Silas Marner (for school) - 5.5/10 - I wouldn't have finished it if I didn't have to; I thought the ending was dull and the story was a bit predictable. The chapters with the parties were boring and it was surprisingly slow for such a short novel.

The Rule of Four - 9/10

CollegeBoard's 101 Recommended Books

Pygmalion (Shaw) - 9/10
The Good Earth (Buck) - 10/10
Nectar in a Sieve (Markandaya) - 8.5/10

wow, just finished the kite runner. i loved it. 10/10

Of Human Bondage (summer reading)
Extremely interesting, a bit unsettling at times

I give it a 6/10. I'm a harsh rater

Abnormal Psychology in a Changing World - 9/10
The Irony of Democracy: An Uncommon Introduction to American Politics - 8/10
The American Political System: A Radical Approach - 9/10

heh, from summer school.

Firewing (Finally got a chance to read it)
Id give it a 8/10. i didnt like the ending.

I've read,

John Steinbeck: Of Mice And Man. 8.5/10
Harry potter & HBP. 5/10

it took me a while to learn to appreciate Of Mice And Men... those are the types of books that if you dont analyze what they really mean or what the message in them is saying... then its just a flat out boring book.

Just finished Lord of the Flies. The ending happened a bit too soon for my liking. The ending alone was like SUSPENSE SUSPENSE SUSPENSE-->EH?

Hopefully somebody followed that.

Otherwise I really, really enjoyed it. I don't see why so many people dislike this book! I expect that reading it in class is completley different from reading it on your own, though.

To be honest, though, I still don't quite understand why it's called Lord of the Flies and who the Lord of the Flies was. That bit with Simon kind of confused me. Was he imagining the pig on the stick was talking to him? Was the pig the Lord of the Flies?

Anyway, 9.5/10!

night by elie wiesel 10/10
our town by thorton wilder 8/10

currently reading as i lay dying and its boring so far...

bump. . . .

The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene

7/10

A History of Love - 10/10 the most beautifully written book I've read in my 17 year of life. Amazing plot, and glorious writing. Highly recommend it........

Prep - 9/10 A ficitional account of a girl's four years at a typical New England Prep School. I like the fact that it doesn't gloss over the more disturbing and painful aspects of adolescence. It's very honest.

HPB - 9/10 A bit too dark, and maybe just a little too much teenage angst

PREP - By Curtis Sittenfeld = 2/10
OMG that has to be one of the boringist book I have read in my life. Helix.. me and you.. we got different tastes in books i think.

The protagonist Lee Fiora, she is a shallow girl who only thinks about her non existant social status. and I think, she thinks way too much. She didn't want to room with her friend because she was hispanic and because she was on a scholarship. and lee even stole the hispanic girl's best friend!!! what a loser. I hate lee. This book has no plot.. it's just a boring life of a loser. I wanted to slap her because she was so dull and shallow. SLAP SLAP!

I always finish books bcos I feel guilty if I don't. So I read the whole boring thing. I give it a 2 because it had like 1 part which I could relate to.

One for the money - Janet Evanovich = 9/10
Stephanie Plum is so funny! A really good comedy crime chic-lit. With hot sexy Joe Morelli! It's a seriel book so it goes up to number 11. I'm gonna read them all!

oh and Of Mice and Men = 8/10

Interesting ending.. If we didn't analyse it at school, I would've been so confused and prob have given it a 5 or something.

l41n, i also found catcer inthe rye depressing so i didnt like it. yet many of my friends love that book... oh well

my bondage and my freedom-frederick douglass- 9/10. all the circumstances could have made me hate it- it was summer HW, but i didnt receive the assignment, so i had to finish it in the first few weeks of school where i already had so much work to do, +cross country practices and meets.also i thought it would be extremely boring, and it was so long. most of my friends did not like reading it. nevertheless, i realy enjoyed it. i was well-written and held my attention

and NoFX, same thing for me. sometimes when a confusing book is analyzed for me, i understand/appreciate it much more

I'm in the midst of reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Almost done!

9/10 I think it's awesome, but a tad bit too descriptive and long so it gets monotonous and repetitive at parts. But I love it.
