rates of "5" scores: self study versus class based study

Anyone know the score rates for these two types of preparation?
It probably depends on the exam subject, but in general, are the social sciences just as easily self-studied as class studied-history, government, psychology etc. I imagine math and science might be a bigger challenge.

I self-studied 5 AP courses and only did 3 at school (my school only offered 5 AP subjects, and students are not allowed to take more than 2 in a single year).

I self-studied World History, Calculus BC, European History, Psychology, and Statistics. I earned 5's in everything except Stats, which I earned a 4. I'd say self-studying APs is definitely not hard, despite some people's views that APs are difficult to self-study. If you are willing to commit some time in April to self-study those courses, you will earn some very respectable scores (all of the courses I self-studied I began in April and still earned good marks despite only one month of preparation).

You can self study complete courses in one night and receive scores of 4+. I did this for three: Environmental Science, Human Geography, and Macroeconomics. I received 4's on Env Sci and Macro and a 5 on Human Geo. I personally wouldn't recommend waiting until the very last minute, but if you put a week of time into each AP you should receive at least a 4.

Thanks, that was helpful to know, as another option for my kid.

good to know!

Wow, really? Any suggestions on what materials to use when studying?
