Hey, all. I'm trying to decide between Rye Country Day and Greens Farms Academy.. my chances at both are looking very good. Any thoughts?

i got a better website vibe from Rye Country Day if that means anything, lol. RCD also has slightly stronger college matric. Sorry, i don’t really know much about either school Good Luck, both schools look good.

Haha, well thanks for your opinion :]

Anybody else? I’d love to hear from a parent who sent a student to one of these schools, or a student who attends/has attended.

They both look like good schools, but nothing about them (that I can tell from the website) makes them very different from the public school I attend besides the 30,000 a year tuition. I read your other topic about your problems and you mentioned your mom doesn’t make a whole lot of money per year, so is it really worth it to go to this school? Could you transfer to a better public school in your area?

Well, my dad is well-off and he’s getting loans. Wow, you must attend an amazing public school! The public schools in my town are terrible… there are some great public schools in neighboring towns which I’m not permitted to attend due to districting.

My school is all what you make of it. It is by no means amazing, but I have freedom of classes because of a dual enrollment agreement we have with City College. Back to the point, if you can afford then I say you should go for it, especially if your public schools are as bad as you say. I wish I could help you more, but I’ve never even been to the east coast haha.

RCDS seemed like more of a “grind” school than GFA when I visited both. The admissions person at RCDS told me that the “savvy” student takes one of their required classes during the summer after 9th grade so that it makes 10th grade a little easier (which really turned me off). The facilities at GFA were a lot nicer. RCDS had students lying in the hallways doing work during free periods when I visited. If you are into music, RCDS also did not have an orchestra (just band) which I was surprised about. GFA just seemed like a friendlier, more relaxed school - the matriculation may not be quite as good as RCDS, but it is also not an intensely competitive place (as RCDS seemed)

GFA is NOT friendly at all. I’d choose RCDS.

Really? My dad met with the head of admissions at GFA and said that she’s really warm.

It seems that GFA is quiteeee competitive as well, seeing that the highest UW cumulative GPA of the class of '09 was a 94 on a 100-pt scale.

Both are great schools. Go for the one with the lesser commute. (I grew up near both)

I’m almost positive that I’m going to GFA… I’m pretty sure that it’s closer too. I still have to take the train to school every day, but it seems kinda fun/exciting :]

Thanks for the input!
