RD Acceptance

Is the RD acceptance rate really about 6%? Jeez.

It should be somewhere between 4 and 4.75%, if I recall correctly.

What is the ED acceptance rate?

@theluckystar‌ there’s no way that’s true.

@green678‌ there is only EA no ED.

@SeinfeldFan1 oops. I meant EA.

@green678‌ my admissions counselor told me “it’s not hard to get deferred.” No exact numbers, though.

If I had a guess for next year, I would estimate an EA acceptance rate of 10-12% and an RD acceptance rate of 4-5%. Unless you have a really good reason to wait, I would recommend anyone to apply EA to increase your chances of getting in. Few are rejected in the EA round - most are deferred to the RD round.

When we were there for Admitted Students Day it was announded the RD rate was under 5% and the acceptance rate for those deferred was even lower. (I don’t know what the EA rate was.)

Here’s one mom’s advice. Be yourself. Try not to overthink all this.

If you are interested in UChicago, make sure you understand why. If you feel you need more time to make your application better, then do just that. If you feel you can have it ready to go in time for EA, why put it off?

My DD decided to wait as she didn’t want to rush the essays. We’re glad she did. She was accepted RD. She’s there and LOVES it. It’s an amazing “fit” for her.

Again, be yourself. :)
