RD Decision Summary 2017

Decisions came out on a Wednesday for the first time. My guess is that they had planned on releasing them Tuesday but it was delayed due to the weather closing. They did come out in the expected week though.

Compared to last year I noticed many more students waitlisted. Last year there were very few waitlisted.

No one reported that they were offered the “guaranteed sophomore transfer” option. A few were offered this ED/EA.

Many students were offered NUIn with high stats belying the claim that it is a “consolation prize”.

Regular RD applicants did receive merit aid, but not Honors.

Northeastern’s lack of an announcement of the exact day decisions would come out caused some anxiety. Checking the BU decision thread here on CC shows that there was way more anxiety and speculation there despite BU having announced the exact day and time of release weeks ago.

Congratulations to everyone!

Do you think this means that they plan to accept more people off of the waitlist or that they’re confident they’ll have a higher yield of accepted students?

No idea! Keep in mind that there were likely 40,000 RD decisions that went out and only a few hundred posted their results here. Also last year a couple of students reported that they were offered NUIn after being waitlisted.
