CWRU is a great school and we have found their financial aid dept to be excellent. I have recommended the school to many in our area. They can’t accept 100% of the same type of people and its even more competitive for international students. Maybe the need for diversity in students and interests had something to do with some of the waitlists. Getting negative doesn’t really help.

I was just commenting on the fact that maybe Case accepted people they saw as better fits… I think you and one of your elite institutions will probably be perfect for each other…

@Sdgal2 @stlbballmom I can only figure that Case doesn’t want all of the average students they accept to feel bad about just how average they really are.

Wow, take it elsewhere, @jlee. Abusive language is uncalled for.

@cephraim “abusive” LOL I take it you didn’t do too well on the CR, specifically the vocab, section of the SAT

Love the “ignore” feature of this site.

@jlee4001 - you missed @Sdgal2’s point completely. She was pointing out that it seems like CWRU weeds out those who probably wouldn’t attend the school anyway because they have such amazing stats that they would most likely go to better schools.

Your comments, let’s just say, lack perspective. And frankly, you’re quite bitter for someone who already got accepted to Stanford.

Yeah but here’s the thing…who the hell can actually afford Stanford? The financial aid system is so lopsided.

Well, thank goodness you weren’t made to feel “average” by a Case acceptance… Might have been more than you could handle…

that’s a different issue isn’t it?

OK, no fights/insults please, I know first hand that emotions run high with all these kids go thu to be the best they can be and then to get on the wait list at CW can push you right over the edge. (my son was furious and at the same time depressed). He has since cheered up at seeing other kids with similar stats getting waitlisted at CW.

@colldid i feel the same. i worked so hard to get waitlisted at two of my safeties (one more safety left, ■■■) and wonder if i wouldve been accepted with lower scores. but life goes on and theres many successful rejects out there in this world :)

@colldid I wholeheartedly agree, but not everyone posts such demeaning comments meant to make those who were accepted feel badly…this was their chance to be excited too.

I wouldn’t call it “rejected.” It’s more like, “we don’t think you’re the right fit for us because you’re probably too good.” Happens in life all the time. People don’t get certain jobs due to over-qualification. Hence, it’s not that they couldn’t do the job (or attend CWRU), but those people are just better fit elsewhere.

@jlee4001 Do you realize you have a grammatical error in one of your posts? I think your true colors have shown and I hope admittance to these other top notch schools is not rescinded by your behavior on this social media enabled website. Please be polite to both the students, school personnel and parents that participate on CC.

Now congrats to all those accepted and good luck to those who truly want to be taken off the waitlist. The school had a record number of students choosing Case two years ago and has experienced an increase in yield. That might have caused more waitlists. You can find out how many waitlisted students attended last year by going to the common data set.

In response to previous comments, yes, Case is right that some applicants with high stats will get in to higher ranked schools. However, almost all of those schools are $60k+ a year with no chance of scholarship. I was interested in Case as a great balance between quality and possible merit scholarship. Had I been accepted with scholarship it would have been a strong contender on my college list.

My 2 daughters were deferred EA, and now waitlisted. Some stats for them, respectively: ACT 32, 30; AP Engl Lang. score of 4, 5; gpa 4.0 (both); EC’s: many. We visited & of course they had received almost daily emails & weekly snail mails encouraging them to apply…

Congartulations to all those accepted!

Waitlisted for the third time in a row. Getting a little worried that I might get accepted nowhere… At least it’s not a rejection.

39 students were accepted off the waitlist last year.
