RD or ED for cornell

cornell is my #1 school
1. Will my chances truly go up in ED? Some say the higher rate is due to the more qualified applicants
2. Plus i need alot of financial aid. But i read somewhere that if income<60k and assets<100k, then parental contribution is zero.
3. i had a terrible second semester. Im hoping to have a perfect first semester senior year. If i apply ED, will my december results be sent to cornell as well? And how much will a REALLY bad semester hold me back. Am i better off applying RD so they can see my second quarter report card too?

Yes for the income and assets part. [Financial Aid Initiatives | Financial Aid](Financial Aid Initiatives | Financial Aid). If those apply to you then ED might make sense

In ED your senior year grades won’t be considered. You would get your decision by mid December. If you need to bring your grades up it’s best to apply RD.

Apply regular decision so they get your senior first semester grades. Include a supplement explaining the grades (illness, death of family member, extremely time consuming research project, etc)

I would for sure apply ED. ED make a HUGE difference, and you don’t even know if you will for sure have a perfect first semester senior year. I would apply ED. Cornell will meet all your aid, so you’re fine.
