My son took SAT in May and scored 1260 (1880, inc. writing), after a night of little sleep & fighting off flu. He's scheduled to re-take SAT in December. However, in September, he scored a composite 33 on ACT and 11 (out of 12) on Writing, which may be good enough for his college choices. My question is whether he should even worry about taking the SAT again? Although he's been studying/reviewing some and should do better, there's no certainty his SAT equiv will match ACT, so maybe there's no gain. Perhaps, at this point, his time would be better spent on essays, etc. Thanks for your ideas.

stop wasting money and just go with ACT.

This is a stressful time for a HS senior. 33 is a good score, I’d say be happy with it, be done with testing, and move on.

Good luck.

33 is a fantastic score. Take it and run!

I believe you’ve just answered your own question. :)

Don’t you love unanimity?

Thanks for the input. In this case, unanimity is okay. I just don’t want to mis-advise my son on this and cost him a later opportunity. It just makes sense to be done with testing and focus on the rest of the process. He’s aiming high, in terms of college choices, and his essays will probably be more important at this point. His ACT scores should be sufficient for the testing requirements, I think. But we’re dependent on scholarships and/or need-based financial aid, so I can’t afford to make a mistake on this. Thanks!
