Re: Transferring from a CC, but taking loans at the University?

This is my situation:

I am transferring to an in-state university from a local CC. I took out Stafford/Direct loans at the CC, and will only be taking 1 class there this upcoming semester and 1 class during the spring. I am not receiving aid from the CC this year, because I know that you can't receive aid from two schools simultaneously, and will be paying for these two classes out of my own pocket.

I've accepted Stafford/Direct loans at the University and will be taking a full-load there.

I'm trying to figure out whether I need to:

A. Do exit counseling for the CC now, since I'll be enrolled in less than six credits there.
B. Wait until I finish those two planned classes (I'll be graduating from there anyway in the Spring.) and am no longer attending classes there, then do the exit counseling.

Thanks
Thanks

You don’t have to do the exit counseling, since you will not be going into repayment as long as you take at least a half-time course load at the university before the grace period is up. The CC will bug you about it, but there are no repercussions for not doing it … and you can just tell them that you are in school elsewhere.
