REA at Harvard and ED1 in Pomona College

Hi everyone,

Is it possible for a student to apply to both schools at the same time? Thank you.

No. Harvard has restrictive early action, so you can’t

@debate4ever I know it is not allowed by agreement but is it possible for one to do it? My daughter’s friend told her that’s what she did and got accepted to both.

If one university finds out she would be rescinded.

But yes it’s physically possible for a student to do it but she would be in serious trouble if either university found out about it. I think it might even affect her admissions to other schools because peer schools communicate.

Her guidance counselor should not allow her to do this. Normally, the school will not send transcripts and LORs if they know you are breaking the rules.

She didn’t get in trouble because she is already going to one of them

Then she and your school (and your kids) dodged a bullet. Either school, had they found out that your school was complicit at gaming this – could easily blackball the school. And then YOUR kids would have issues due to that student and negligent guidance counselor. Something needs to be said to your head of counseling or principal. It can happen again.

@T26E4 My daughter didn’t go to school with this girl. They were summer school friends 7 years ago but they recently reunited and she told my daughter her story of admission to schools. Just want to make sure this girl is still an honest friend my daughter can trust.

Maybe honest but definitely not ethical.

@Corinthian She is not comfortable with her if she is either way. But I don’t think they will see each other that much since my daughter goes to school in Minnesota. She just decided to distance herself a little even on social media.

Asked and answered. Closing thread.
