For those who have taken the APUSH exam and have studied with REA, was the test easier or harder than the practice tests with REA?

Thanks!

Bump please...

bout the same, maybe a bit harder than the real test

REA is an awesome book tho. if you prepped with that well, you're nearly guaranteed a 5 or an 800

LOL are you kidding me? REA MC is MUCH harder than the real thing. I got no higher than high 50s on practice tests for Euro and ended up knowing all but 2 of the answers on the real thing. As for US...my best was a 62 on REA, yet I did about 20 questions better on the SAT and probably bound for a similar fate on the AP exam.

o well it was a year ago. from what i remember, REA was a bit harder.... sigh, us oldtimers...

What about the essays and DBQs? What's your advice, concentrate on knowing as much as possible in order to do well on the MC or concentrate on the essays and DBQs?

Bump please...

Bump again...

well ideally both. since both deal with the same subject matter (US history) when you study for one you're studying for both.

i think personally REA did a great job with their Multiple choice sections. since the collegeboard doesn't release many multiple choice sections, go with REA some solid practice. for the essay questions, why don't you just see real AP questions at apcentral.collegeboard.com? sign up for a free account, and you can access free response sections for every year since (i think) 1999. practice DBQing. if you're writing is OK, a good way to prepare for the essays is to simply list what you WOULD have written if you got that exam (like brief outline). that saves you the trouble of spending time to write out your entire essay for practice's sake only. i think nearly 80% of the battle is recalling details and facts to justify your essay, and that requires skill in brainstorming and the ability to dig deep in your memory to find relevant stuff. after you have that solid outline, writing an essay is easy.
