Reach and Match Schools

I go to school at one of the top 10 schools in my state and my GPA is about a 3.55 with an SAT score of 1850.

I’ve taken at least 4 honors courses per year throughout high school and am taking AP bio along with 3 honors courses in my senior year.

For extracurricular I do soccer, lacrosse and ski team. I also do volunteer work such as Special Olympics and Relay for Life. Hopefully I’ll be joining National Honors Society as well.

I’m not looking for exact schools but what GPAs and SAT score ranges would be considered reach schools for me and what would be match schools? My guidance counselor tells me that they’ll weigh my GPA differently because I’m from a “higher end” school so I’m having trouble calculating where I belong. I also plan to go into nursing which would increase the GPA at the schools as it’s competitive and what not.

Does your school use Naviance? If so look at that data. Also try the SuperMatch engine on the left side of this page. I actually think your GPA and SAT score are in line with each other. A match would generally have your stats in the middle 50%ile for accepted students.
