Hello! I am currently a freshman in college and set on transferring. I need to go somewhere worth my money because right now I am at a school that is way too expensive and not very academically challenging. I have been researching possible colleges like crazy and I feel like many of these colleges may be reaches and am wondering if I should add some safety schools to apply to. The problem is I don't want to transfer to a school that is not challenging me because that is my main problem right now.

Here are some stats:

HS UW GPA: 4.0
HS W GPA: 4.46 (can't remember exactly)
ACT: 31
6 AP classes total

Since my first semester of college just ended I am unsure of my exact GPA but I think I will have 3 A's and 1 A-
This semester the main activities I was involved in was my Hall Council and volunteering with the boys and girls club.
I have strong recommendation letters lined up with two of my professors.

Schools I am considering: University of North Carolina, University of Michigan, Boston University.
However, a part of me just wants a REALLY academically rigorous school and I am thinking of applying to Notre Dame.
I guess this is kind of a chance-me because I don't know if these are realistic goals, or if I can go bigger, or I should choose more safety schools. I just need advice! Thanks!

I think you have a great chance of getting into schools like Michigan. Plus your HS stats are high (I’d take the SAT if I were you and) so also apply to some reach schools.

Re: Michigan, her stats look great, but if I were her I’d check their policy on credits and transferring. I’ve heard Michigan favors junior transfers (close to 60 credits).

Thank you for the quick replies. I’ll look more into Michigan’s policies and preferences. Also I was looking for any other suggestions of schools.
What I’m looking for:
Strong academics (must)
Good with financial aid (must)
Preferably more than 6,000 undergrad
Pretty campus.

I’ve used those college search websites but I feel like my results are always iffy.
I wish I could go to an ivy league but I know I don’t have the stats for that so any suggestions for schools that are kind of “like” ivy leagues would be greatly appreciated. I love to be surrounded by motivated people and I love school. I hope that does not sound strange. Thanks!

Your “stats” are Ivy Tier but those schools are usually looking for more than the raw numbers. If you had some kind of incredible story like playing on broadway or starting up a non profit then you would have a great chance to get in. As-is it’s kinda unknown if your ECs are unique/good enough. You have a great chance of getting into big schools and maybe a chance for some ivy’s.
