Hello all,
I’m a current junior who’d like some insight into my college list. I’m not particularly sure what on my list qualifies as a match, because it’s difficult to tell objectively.
Some info about myself: I’m a 3.86 GPA UW, 1560 SAT Asian upper-middle class male. I attend a very competitive public high school in MA (ranked top 10 in the state). I would attribute my lower GPA to my subpar freshman year (I have no other legitimate excuse other than I was having difficulty acclimating to high school and my interest in math and physics has never been particularly high), but I’ve had a distinct upward trend since then (with more challenging courseloads––I have taken 5 APs and will take 5 more next year). I am a captain of two clubs (music and Model UN) and a section leader in marching band. Additionally, I am incredibly active in theater (at my school and at community theaters) and will (hopefully) be a captain next year. I also play rugby and quiz bowl.
I have interned at multiple political organizations and under some important political figures in Boston politics, and I also volunteered for an organization that provided education to North Korean refugees. I have also won awards for my music playing, and have performed in regional and national ensembles (including one at Carnegie Hall).
I think my essays will be at least above-average––my writing skills are not too shabby (they’ve won me some minor awards and definitely helped me secure internships and scholarships, and I studied writing at Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth).
As for my college list:
UChicago (ED)
Columbia
Tufts
Wesleyan
Vassar
NYU
Brandeis
UMass Amherst
How is it looking? What schools would you suggest I should look at/consider adding? Input would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
