Read About Yourself

OOPS ... I am pretty picky about spelling & I messed that up. Another reason to LOVE CC ... ellemenope was witty & gave me the credit! :) Excellent distinction between the two, by the way.

Same here:-)

I came by 5 years ago when oldest D was a junior. Of course, after she left for college, I had to stay a year or two to "pay back" the efforts of all those who gave of their time and advice.

Then I segued into the "I've got to keep my hand in because of younger D", who is now a high school junior. The college application season is starting for her (standardized tests at end of junior year).

After younger D is in college? Well, I'll have to pay back a couple more years.

After that...maybe I can convince the H that we need to adopt a few high school students.

I am going to try and wean myself off after he graduates from HS.

Why, Bessie? He'll be gone and won't know you are on here!

I am a big believer in pay it forward. Really. I am. Just don't ask how forward :)

I thought so, too, kelsomom.

My name is maysixxmom and I am an addict.

Heh.

I showed it to my mom, and she was like, "Why did you...HEY! That's you!"

Tee hee.

I'm so addicted...I know I'll be on here well after HS graduation (probably college, too).

I'll probably be here years from now ranting about my KIDS applying for college. If CC is still here, that is.

Went away overnight, did not bring laptop - quite proud of myself. Arrived at home at 3:00 p.m. today, was on CC by 3:01 p.m., with coat on. Not too proud of myself but didn't care.

If I knew a friend was on here as much as I am, I'd say "Get a LIFE".

Why is this so addicting? I thought it might be the gratification of seeing my comments in print, but usually, I just read the posts.

I can't stay away for a day. And there's no hope for the future. We have lots more children coming along and the youngest is only three. I'll be the little white-haired huguenot gnome still checking CC four times a day in 2026. I'll be sure to be friendly to your kids when they join CC to learn about getting your grandchildren into college :-)

I admit that I am powerless over CC

I've come to believe that an admissions decision greater than myself could restore me to sanity.

I've made a decision to turn S1 and his life over to the care of the best college he can get into, even if it's not a tier I school.

I've made a searching and fearless moral inventory of S1's SAT scores, GPA and ECs.

Admitted to CC the exact nature of my wrongs.

Am entirely ready to have CC remove all these defects of character.

Humbly asked CC to remove my shortcomings and help me with the correct interpretation of "student asset" for FAFSA.

Made a list of all other parents I had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all by not accusing them of being helicopter parents.

Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others, or hinder their getting into the college of their choice.

Continued to take personal inventory by doing web searches on the exact amount of income protection allowances, and when I was wrong promptly admitted it.

Sought through prayer and meditation to improve my conscious contact with admissions offices as I understood them, praying only for knowledge of their Will for S1 and the power to carry that out.

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, I tried to carry this message to other parents, and to practice these principles in all my affairs, especially now that S2 is beginning his college search.

^^^ VERY impressive! :)

vballmom, it's a start. ;)

Great article...I laughed all through it!!

Hey, I just remembered my S is a freshman, so I have at least three more years here!

But I'm definitely not addicted.....

Glad to see that we are all in agreement and in denial....
"I could quit anytime I wanted to."
Right.

My son will be going into his senior year....in college. Arrrghhhhh. But I must say, you are all my link to the U.S. online. Yeah, right!

I never thought I was a candidate for carpal tunnel syndrome, except that I get this pain shooting up my arm as I click the mouse after I've been on CC too long
