Okay..I've taken few ACT practice tests in the red book but I realized that reading and science sections were all about timing. For some tests, I was luckily able to finish on time but on most of the other tests, I had to quickly skim the passages and guess. And so I was wondering how you guys are preparing for reading and science sections? Also, what are some of your methods that seem to be working for you?

For reading, I'm fortunate that I'm a fast reader. So I just read through the passage (quickly), and then look at the questions. As the basic synopsis of the passage is already in my head, it substantially eases answering the questions, or so I feel.

For science, don't bother reading any data at first. Read the question, and then search for the answer. It's all right in front of you.

^I do pretty much the exact same thing. just scan the reading passage quickly and then search for answers, and with science don't read anything you don't need.

Thanks. So for reading, you do read the passage "first" and then answer questions, right? Because I tend to read the question first and then find the answer in the passage. Which one do you prefer?

For science, I really didn't read any paragraphs above the charts but I went over about 5 minutes. Any idea on this?

reading -- i dont even look at questions. just read paragraph then jump to q's. get 35 or 36's.

science -- even though like 95% of ppl disagree. i read and interpret all the data in the science section then jump to the questions so i can answer quickly (in about 10-15 secs per Q). it saves time for me to understand the data then do the questions. i usually score like a 34+
