just realized my other is weird/not working.

anyway, who else is taking summer classes? i'm in orgo I and II and the lab first session. contemplating taking another over session II because i'll be there for an HOUR only on tues/thurs and i drive an hour each way, so that's a huge waste of time.

taking classes over the summer at fdale and sb cause they’re cheap, don’t cap me on units, and they’re close to home. orgo at sb in the morning and physics at farmingdale at night, since you seem so curious/skeptical. i need suggestions for 9:30 - 1 (:30?) on tu/th, so if you have any, let me know and i’ll take a look

djstony - katsamanis is teaching the lectures and rao is doing the labs

Both orgo’s, the lab, and physics during the summer sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. If your home institution will report the grades, and you will be applying to anything that will require it (grad, med, etc), I would strongly not recommend it at all.

In addition to what above user suggested, professional graduate programs and schools (Med, Law etc.) generally look down upon taking numerous major courses over the summer. This stems from the ideology (albeit false in most instances) that summer courses are slightly easier in order to facilitate remedial students.

my bad on unit caps. stony didn’t cap me cause it’s only 6 credits first session and 4 the second (i think they cap at 9?). farmingdale allows 12 units per session. so i’m doing 10 first session and 8 second between the 2. the credits won’t transfer over; they’re just for med/dental school. it’s fine if you take them over the summer as long as you have more upper-level sciences later on at your home school (my mom knows several deans of admissions of various med/dent schools and they told me that), and since i’m taking a lot of upper levels i’ll be okay. i just need to catch up which is why i have to cram so many in right now, especially since they ruined my travel plans and i already have to take microbio next summer and then later go away (stress times a million, but i do what i gotta do). i know it’s a lot, but i’m already 1/4 done with physics I and i’m getting perfect scores. i just need to manage my time once orgo starts.

i took a look at 9 AM classes and there were 2 environmental ones that a friend said she’d take with me, ENS 301 - contemporary environmental issues and policies taught by christine o’connell and MAR 340 - environmental problems and solutions with owen doherty. if you know anything about these instructors (i think they’re grad students cause theyre not on ratemyprofs), i’d love input. my other choice would be SOC 315 - sociology of technology with michael restivo, who i also think is a grad student since he’s not on ratemyprofs. i’m not 100% set on adding another class, as it’d be just to kill time and make me feel less useless for driving 2 hours roundtrip just to stay an hour.

also, any suggestions on an orgo review book? sb’s bookstore is closed til classes start and i want to start reading

Go to Stony Books, not the bookstore. It’s across the road from the train station, and they’re already open. I bought my books on Wednesday, and saved $300 when compared to what the bookstore charges.
