Hey! Sorry if there's already a thread about this, but I was wondering if anyone's attended the Summer in New York program. If you have, could you tell me a bit about it? Is anyone else applying this year? Thanks for all your help!

Yeah, I went last year during the first session. Basically you come in and have classes the next day. You have class for about 2 hrs in the morning (starts about 10ish) and class for about 2 / 2.5 hrs in the afternoon. If you do a science its usually lecture in morning and lab in afternoon. The times vary on the classes but usually everyone is done by 5. You only have class 4 times a week and on the other days and after you classes you are free to do as you wish including leave out for the city. Curfew (you have to be back in your suite/hall) is at 11 (12 on fri and sat) and even after curfew you can stay up as late as you want, you just can't leave you suite/hall. I took the experimental physics class and I loved it. It was really laid back with not really any homework. Some of my friends in other classes had some homework, but nothing major. My class also didn't have a final, but some of the other classes did, but again nothing major. I really liked the freedom I had. It was a great experience to see what life at Columbia is really like, and I made several great friends I still talk to, not to mention it probably helped me get accepted. If you have any intentions of going to Columbia especially if you have never visited, I highly recommend going to the program.

Thanks a lot for your response Synthetic Angel! And congratulations on your acceptance! :)
