First I hope your daughter continues to improve.
Someone once told me, “there is a college for everyone” and I always remind myself of that when the process seems too competitive. I don’t mean to imply that your daughter won’t go to a good college - she will.
I’m certain she will get into George Mason (I have a family member who went there and loved it) and High Point. I don’t know enough about the others to comment.
Remember, college is a business. Most of them need you more than you need them. All will be fine.
Empireapple, thank you so much for your works of encouragement: things are so different for my daughter. My son was able to do everything that the competitive colleges look for in order to produce the best application he could do we knew he would get into one of the 7 colleges he applied to even if it was not his first choice and we knew he would probably be happy there.
For my daughter, I would like her to be challenged, but not overly so, just enough to stimulate her. Balance will be key and she will always need to put her health before all else, but I am not sure there is enough information that demonstrates who my daughter is ot enough that would cause a college to want take a look at her and ask the questions to learn who she is and if she would be a good fit for them. I could go on and on about who she is, but the application is not looking for a parent’s perspective, they want to know gpa, test scores, extra curriculars, etc etc.
It is great to hear that you believe she would make it into George Washington or High Point. That helps! We may feel better once we begin to make some visits and speak to admissions and disabilities offices to hear what they think!
