I took a practice ACT test at school in September and got a 27 composite. I took another one in November and got a 29. I have the Real ACT Prep book and just took a practice test. This is my scoring range (I gave myself 3-5 minutes less to do each section):

Composite: 29-30

English: 32-34
Math: 28-30
Reading: 27-30
Science: 28-30

I want to get into Johns Hopkins or Cornell. I'm aiming for a 34. Will buying another book with practice tests and doing 1 section every few days raise my score 4? I take the test in the end of April and I may take it again in June. Has anyone else improved a lot in a little bit of time?

well practice will be the key here.
or adderall :)

with scores like that all you can do is practice. once you get in the 30’s, unless one section is low and the rest is really high, practice can only make perfect. keep taking those tests in ACT standards

looking at your scores its going to be hard. because going from a 30 to a 34 is filling in the very very small gaps in your knowledge and reasoning. You are already at the 97% and it gets hard. how about studying in the summer time and taking a prep course? but hey you have it in you. improved 6 pts. in 4 months but my situation was very different that your.

SEPT. ACT- 25 comp, 23 eng, 27 math, 21 read, 27 science
DEC. ACT- 31 Comp, 28 eng, 32 math, 30 read, 32 science

basically its all about preperation and mind set. I bought the 1492 act prep questions by princeton and it was great. it had 3 full test and 3 seperate read, math, eng, sci, and read sec. so when i had a little time i would do a science section or a math section,. second of all, is the mind set when i went back a corrected the ones i got wrong i saw that i could all of them i just ran out of time or i didnt read it carefully. but like i said going from a 25 to a 31 is easier than 30 to a 34.

That’s a great increase FutureENTSurgeon. I’m hoping to have a similar increase

SEPT- 26 Composite. Hoping for 31+ from this month

I have taken the ACT 4 times now.
The first time I took it, I got a 23.
I was upset about my score and I took it again, but this time on adderall (yeah, don’t tell me thats bad, I’m aware) and got a 25. However, I needed a 26.
So I studied really hard, but this time with no adderall and got a 25 again, but that day I felt really groggy and sick.
This test in February, I was on adderall again…I felt good and this time took 2 instead of 1.
I also studied a lot for the test.

What do you think my chances are of getting a one point increase from a 25 to a 26 or higher?

adderall? really? havent you ever heard of coffee? or 5 hour energy? or monster? but seriously maybe you feel tired because you are not physically fit. i do sports year around and before ever standardized test i run 2 miles about an hour, take a shower then go to the test. i have so much energy

canderson: thx but idk if i should study for it and take it again. im trying to get into Cal Poly SLO. i have a 3.65 UC/CSU gpa and 31 on the ACT and their average is 3.90 UC/CSU Gpa and 28 ACT. my extracurriculrs are good so the only thing bringing down my app is gpa
