I start college soon. My Major is Psychology. I don't know if I'm going for the BA or BS. I have the option to do either one. I know I want to pursue a career in Psychology but not sure what exactly I would like to do. I want to go as far as a PhD if I can. I am thinking of Child Psychology, or maybe Cognitive Neuroscience. If I do Cognitive Neuroscience, would I need to Pre-Med right now? And can I get my BA or BS and skip getting a MA and get straight to do my PhD? Or would that not be good?
(If it helps, I am going to attend CCNY)

Hi, Im in a similar position, but I’m a Biology major but my main goal is psych.(post grad) I think you would be better off to go the science route, get the B.S. it sounds like your ultimate goal to is to become a psychologist, if you can, keep the psych major and still fulfill all the med school prereqs like 1 yr bio, 1 yr chem, 1 yr physics, etc you should be all set. but in case med school isnt for you then you shoulc stick with the Masters deg, bc Ive heard of alot of people who regret getting their PhD, more school, more debt, ;/ pretty much, if med school isnt where you want to end up Masters in psych is good enough. I heard in some states you can charge by the hour with a Masters, not sure about NY, hope this helps.
