really short chances thread.

I'm about to submit my app. for transfer. I'm applying as a junior w/ a 3.94. Should I consider myself a lock?

I can't imagine you not getting in.

in probably scholarships

Cool. I guess I just wanted to make sure.

I agree with Chessiestyle, prob. a scholarship to be had.

Do you guys have specific scholarships in mind, considering I'm an out of state transfer? I only ask b/c from what I was able to find on the website (albany.edu), there didn't seem to be many scholarships that applied to me...

thanks

Hi, I applied for transfer to Albany as a junior too, haven't heard yet though. They offer a special transfer scholarship you can apply for. It's for people transferring from two year schools..i'm not sure if your transferring from a two year or four year school?

This is the info my current community college gave me about it:

Transfer Presidential Scholarship:
The University at Albany invites nominations of students who are completing associates degrees at community and two-year colleges for the Transfer Presidential Scholars Program. The annual program will provide scholarships and benefits to students who have distinguished themselves academically and through their contributions to their two-year college. The Transfer Presidential Scholars Program will offer the following benefits, including:
-1,000 merit scholarship per year for two years
-the option to live in Honors Housing on campus
-priority registration for courses required to fulfill major or minor requirements
-faculty borrowing privileges in the Libraries
-a faculty mentor

To be considered, students must have an outstanding academic record (3.5 GPA or higher) and plan to continue their education as full-time students. Phi Theta Kappa members will receive special consideration.

Nomination Materials:
Nominations for the Transfer Presidential Scholarship must include:
-Nomination letter from the college President or designee
-Recommendation letter from at least one faculty member (but no more than two)
-a statement of educational and life goals from the nominee

Cool, thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm also from a comm. coll. When did you submit your application? Do you know how long decisions are supposed to take?

I applied in December and I actually just called them and they said transfers take longer because they look at freshman apps first, so hopefully in the next month they will start looking at transfer apps. =/

Probably a good shot. Do the application thoroughly just to be careful and not get screwed.
