Really sticky situation in math, help?

I am currently a sophomore. Last year i took regular Algebra 2, and managed to get nothing lower than a B, but mostly A's in that class. Doing fairly well, i decided to take regular Pre-Calc/Trig. Currently taking that class, I have had troubles. I understand the concepts completely well, but for some reason I just can't do well on the tests. I unfortunately ended up with a C+ in it first quarter, and our reccomendations are coming up for next year. It's expected to go into AP Calculus AB or Calculus Survey from regular Pre-Calc/Trig, but with my grades it looks like i'm heading into Calculus Survey. I really don't want to go into Calculus Survey, and I really want to go into Calc AB, but I"m not sure what to do. Advice?

You’re only a sophomore…why can’t you take Calculus Survey as a junior and AP Calculus AB (or BC, if it’s offered) as a senior? It seems like you might have been placed on an unnecessarily advanced track. The standard track would have had you in Algebra II as a junior, so even taking it as a sophomore would have put you a year ahead.

Yea, but I don’t want to take two years of Calculus. I really wanted to just take Calculus junior year and Stats senior year. I passed test to be on this advanced track, I just don’t know what the problem is now.

study more? get a tutor? or just look up videos online?

I’ve gone ahead and got myself a tutor, but with reccomendations coming up do you think if I get into Calc Survey would I be okay with going into AB?
