Reapplying as a Freshman

Hello everyone!

So, I'm in a bit of a predicament. I'm a student from California who, over the last year, spent my Freshman year at a private university in the Boston area while on financial aid. However, due to cutbacks and a greater demand for financial aid, the financial aid department cut my institutional grant aid in half, therefore I cannot return to Boston this year. Now I'm looking at transferring, but my GPA (2.7) isn't exactly where I want it to be for a transfer application. That, in combination with the fact that I can't get any classes at colleges in my area to raise my GPA due to how impacted CA schools are, leaves me in quite a predicament. Therefore, I was wondering if I could reapply to a few colleges as a freshman for the Spring semester.

I realize that this would mean all the credits I earned this year would essentially go to waste, and I am completely fine with that. As I see it, this means I get to retake classes for hopes of higher grades, which could come in handy for a grad school application. I was just wondering if this was a even possible and, if so, if my college experience would have any impact on an admissions decision or the financial aid I would apply for.

Any input?

If you search the board and you will find that the advises given to your requsts were asounding NO. You have to supply ALL your acadamic information when applying for a college, the good, the bad and the ugly. You just cannot erase your records in Boston magically.

I think in your case, its better to go to a community college, bring up your gpa and apply for a transfer.

That’s the problem: the community colleges and Cal States are so impacted that I can’t get any classes. Even the students enrolled there can’t get the classes that they need.
