So I am currently deferred from an university and I am interested in reapplying to some schools during my gap year. I know you are not supposed to do this, but some people from my gap year program did it anyway last year. I am just wondering can I hold my place in my currently deferred university and apply to my dream school early decision? So if I don’t get in, I still have a school to fall back on. Can someone speak from experience?
Most colleges would not allow this course of action; If you choose to apply to other schools in your deferral period, you lose your spot at the university. You could still try (it would be unscrupulous but it isn’t illegal), but know if your college finds out you will almost certainly not have a spot there anymore.
Also- if you were rejected from your dream school this time around in applications, why do you think this time would be any different? What has changed since the last time you applied?
How would my deferred university find out?
Come on. If your reaction to “that is immoral” is “but couldn’t I get away with it?” then you have a problem.
If you signed something that said you would attend the deferred University then you should be committed to that.
