I just sent in my agreement to enroll in Amherst over Williams. It was a sort of heartbreaking decision with a whole lot of personal/familial matters involved with it. Namely, my mother confessed to me that it would “break her heart” if I didn’t go to Amherst (we live right next to it). Before anyone criticizes my mom for that, please know that there are certain circumstances in my family that caused her to feel this way, and it’s really understandable if you know the whole story. Ultimately, it was my decision to stay close to home, but now I’m feeling a little sad and want reassurance. Thanks. :-/

Regardless of personal reasons for picking one of these schools over the other (you're really lucky to have those options, many don't), it's probably pretty normal to feel some temporary buyer's remorse no matter what the decision. Making a great choice here also means rejecting another more or less equally great one, from your perspective. All these schools have been doing exactly that to us for the last four months. Huge decisions are stressful for everyone. Your concerns will fade and by next weekend you'll be looking forward. Congratulations. I'm most likely heading in the same direction, pending a visit to Amherst in a couple of weeks.

You live right next to it? Me too. Do you go to the local high school?

Yeah, once you start college life you won't think about it anymore. If you really want reassurance, let's just say that we won't be inundated with snow in March:D

There is nothing wrong with staying close to home!! Congratulations on your decision. Amherst is a great schoo.

Linh, what sort of reassurance is that? He lives right next to the College. You've never been there (as your statement obviously shows. Live in New England long enough and you'll see that nothing is impossible in terms of the weather). Telling him about the snow situation serves little good, don't you think :D

To be quite honest, there is very little difference in the weather between Amherst and Williams. They are both at roughly the same elevation and latitude. Williams may be a TAD colder in the winter and a TAD warmer in the summer, but that's about it...... a TAD

LOL Williams admitted themselves that they're blocked in with snow in March. No remark of the kind from Amherst. Anyway, I'd like to pull people to Amherst, yes:)

"I'd like to pull people to Amherst, yes"

What might this mean?

Something very sinister, obviously.

It means I'm building a hypergravity device in Amherst's lab that can attract admitted students also considering other schools such as Duke, Yale or Williams:D

Can I borrow that device for, like, a day? I need it for my orbital cannon... I mean my can opener.

Feel free to do so, my friend, but I haven't figured out how to unstick people that get stuck to the hypergravitational field:D
