Rec letter help please!

The time has come to submit letters of recommendation, and I am not quite sure which to send for my UIC GPPA application. I am a white male (from Illinois).

In my essays, I am focusing on

  1. my experience playing the violin (common app)
  2. how being Serbian has allowed me to appreciate different cultures, languages, especially relating to the medical profession
  3. My love for science

I have letters of recommendation from my math, French, and physics teachers. I suspect my math/French teachers will write the best essays (especially my French teacher). However, I am not sure how important it is to have a science teacher write a letter of rec. Nothing is said about this on the UIC GPPA website.

Thank you. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Would you guys say focusing on my heritage is a good idea in my essays? I believe it really is something that has had a big impact on my life. I am trying to describe how I used my language to communicate with a patient while shadowing a doctor.

Just to add, the UIC website mentions that “You are only required to submit two letters. The maximum is four, but you should prioritize quality over quantity and only ask those who genuinely know you.”
