rec letter

IDK if there is already another thread for this, but.... how does the whole rec letter thing work?? can i just ask like three teachers to fill out the form/write a rec letter, and then turn in the ones that come in first?? idk, this may seem like a dumb question.....!

Well, you’re supposed to ask teachers or the head of school or whatever to write you a letter if you think they’re the best person to tell something about you that your application won’t show. So if you have a teacher that has taught you for three years and maybe has coached a sport team you were on, that person would be a great teacher to get a rec from.

Once you decide on the teachers you want you should talk to them in person and ask them to write a letter. If you have a resume you can give it to them so they are reminded of all the activities you have participated and can maybe talk about those. Then, you give their email to commonapp who sends them a form to fill out and they submit their rec. These recs will be uploaded to your account and you can then choose to send these apps to colleges. You can choose what recs to send where. So you can send your bio teachers rec to Harvard but not to Yale and choose to send your Calc teachers letter to Yale instead. I hope this answered your question. If it didn’t, let me know and i’ll try to answer it again!

Yeah, it answered my question–thanks!!!
