Recent Miss Porter's grad, any questions?

Recently graduated from MPS, ask me anything!

How common is it for girls to get in for their Junior year?

Were you a day student or a border? If you were a border, can you tell me if the school empties out on weekends with students going home?

What did you like best about the school? What did you like least? Were you sufficiently challenged in your classes?

I have a few (many?!?):

What other schools did you apply to and why did you pick Porter’s?

Where are you going to college and how do you think Porter’s prepared you for it?

What was your favorite thing about your time there?

What was your least favorite thing about your time there?

Do you know of any students who were able to pursue an unsupported sport while attending MPS?

Thanks in advance for your replies, and feel free to PM me if you prefer.

I went to SPLI last summer (Sarah Porter Leadership Institute), and although it was not during the school year I felt like I got a good feel of the school. I can say that it is a very nice campus with comfortable dorms, a great cafeteria, and beautiful grounds. The counselors were current Porter’s students and they all raved about the school, how great the community was, and how much they feel they have grown by being there. I recommend going to SPLI if you want a nice preview of the school and also many great lessons about leadership.

@MalaikaMascara: Every year there are several new juniors. I don’t know the acceptance rate for juniors specifically, though.

I was a boarder. Most boarders stay on the weekends for games and activities. It definitely does not empty out.

I liked the diversity of the student body, and the range of classes and extracurriculars offered. I didn’t like the fact that there no programs or classes for students who needed or wanted extra support in subjects such as math.
