I just transferred to cornell this fall semester and admissions originally said they were going to take all my credits and unfortunately they notified me half way through the semester and said they weren't going to take 8 of my credits. I am a junior and an AEM major. I am considering finishing at a SUNY school back home in order to not be behind in credits and graduate on time since a SUNY would take all my credits. Upon graduation I am not looking to move to a big city like NYC or LA for a job opening, like a majority of the business grads here are looking to do, but instead would like to land a job in my home city of Rochester, NY that's why I am not extremely disappointed in missing out on the opportunities a cornell degree would give me versus a hometown degree being that id want to stay in my hometown.

I am pretty much torn between what to do....whether to try to catch up on credits(when id really be ahead of myself at a SUNY school) or just finish up my degree back home?

Any advice?

STAY AT CORNELL, hands down...the benefit of a Cornell degree FAR outweighs the extra semester that you would need to make up your credits.

i'm curious, why on earth is the admissions office being so stingy? i've heard about this in the past...what are they not giving you credit for?

dude, it's 8 credits. Seriously. You could easily make those up at a community college in the summer time or duing winter session at cornell, or just take alot of credits one semester (4 extra one semester, 4 extra the next).

well should i also mention that finance has been a beast of a class for me this 1st semester here so i will probably have to retake it so now its up to 12 credits behind

keep in mind that if you were to transfer to a suny school, you'd have to spend at least 4 semesters there before you graduate. This is at least $16,000 a year for a suny (tution plus room and board)

the suny id go to is 20 minutes away from my house therefore i would not be living there and would only be paying tuition and no u do not need to spend 4 semesters at a suny in order to graduate from there i would be transferring a total of 75 credits there leaving only 45 credits left to complete over 3 semesters

lol from reading this it seems like you're defending your decision [to stay at your suny] so i feel that you already made up your mind but need someone to agree with you haha i think a cornell degree will get you a lot more opportunities [and you want to be in rochester now, but who knows where in the future, right?] but obviously when it comes down to it, how you feel about the school is much more important than the prestige....

yeah i guess if you don't value the Cornell degree in the first place, why bother going
