Hi, I am new to this forum. We imigrated to Canada from U.S few months ago. My children went to schools in U.S from very biginning. My oldest son did not like schools in Canada and want to go to college in U.S. My first question is if this is his right decision?. If so, how can he sit for SAT in Canad

So your sons are permanent residents of the United States right?
Assuming that your son who wants to go to America receives “good” SAT scores (2100 or 2200+), then he may be able to consider Canadian universities as “safeties”. Although Canadian universities are excellent to say the least, it is relatively easy to be accepted to Canadian schools. McGill, one of the top Canadian schools for example has acceptance rate in the 40% range. Check out the thread below.

SAT registration can be done on [College Admissions - SAT - University & College Search Tool](http://www.collegeboard.org) and the site shows available testing centers near your son once he signs in with his account and registers for his SAT.

If your son wants to apply for American schools, he will be basically considered as an American citizen and not as an international applicant as your son has permanent residency. This will make it marginally easier to get in to universities. For example, Harvard’s domestic acceptance rate was about the double the international applicant acceptance rate.

I would recommend that your son applies to both Canadian schools and American schools, but it is his choice.
Best of luck to your son.
