Recognition from 2010

Expect any calls to be after 5PM mtn time (more like 6). They still have to get back, do retreat formation, the prop and wings ceremony, and have dinner.

Quick input from me. My freshman put out, different story from most on here. More later. I'm using a friends computer since mine can't turn on since Thursday...more later when I get a computer again!

Eagle - glad to hear that Petko's still alive. Thanks for your encouraging words to him!

Well it is done!! Somehow potter was headbutted with a rifle on the assualt course ended up with an IV and trip to the hospital. Glad it is still a hospital for a couple of weeks. Hornet hand picked her for the round robin (she says she knew she had to represent then). Hope she made you proud Hornet. Has her shinny Gold P&W as well as some blood wings, pink wings, and more.

Ha, I recognized you eagle. :) That probably just didn't come across well in the heat of the moment. It gets hard to hear sometimes over all the yelling/knowledge recitation.

Anyway, we're done!!! Congrats 2011. My perspective is obviously very different from that of our three digs, but I thought my squad (12) did pretty well overall. Our upperclassmen told us that they were proud of what we had done at the end, and the whole thing really was a great experience.

OLDS!

Now THAT'S worth it weight in gold. Thanks 2010.

My squad came together decently in the end. We still had a handful who obviously got nothing out of freshman year (and didn't want to). Anyways, Congrats, 2011, I know your feelings right now, and I envy you!

rtbcadet15....potter just told us you stopped by with some wings, and was very happy. Hard to believe it has been nearly a year since this roller coaster began last April. Funny how it snowed at orientation and during recognition too. Time for all the 2011 croowd to breathe.

our squad did really well, the assualt course cadre told our upperclassmen we were the best they had seen all day and they were pleased with our performence, and noone fell out at any point. definitely an awesome feeling being done w/ it

High school senior (Appointee)...Basic...4dig...Recognition...in less than a year. It's a remarkable change, congrats again to Class of 2011.

What squad are you in, falcon20af?

thats funny. a-course cadre said the same thing to our frosh friday late afternoon.

anyway, congrats 2011. and 2012, it'll be here before you know it

yea the a course said that there was only one other squad that had done really well besides ours

damn, it feels good it be a gangsta

Congrats 2011!!!!

Haha...the A-course cadre said the exact same thing to MY squad... Seems like they think everyone was the best. So maybe my squad didn't come together as well as we thought they did, cause everyone was touting that as the one "good" thing they did during recognition...

Well, back on a friend's computer. I did not get to see any of Thursday since I sat A-Hall CQ. Friday I did wake-up in the morning....but still no training. Afternoon I worked as an EMT, got called many times. Had to rescue one of redhead's classmates. :) She about flipped (per a conversation we had last night) cause she thought I was coming to beat her. :) Did have to ship one off to the hospital and monitor another for 30 minutes (couldn't even sit-up). Biggest problems were dehydration really.

I liked what I saw, I was very impressed with my squad. I had one of my 4 degrees talk back Sat morning, but he apologized later and was quite embarrassed. Mostly, they were pretty good about working together. During the round robin, some squadrons that came through had HORRID attitude issues, I would NOT want to serve with them. THAT was embarrassing for me.

I did hand pick potter and two of her girl classmates. I must say potter, you impressed me. ;) While the other two were dead, you did an awesome job keeping up with me. Hard to support classmates in flutterkicks and squats though. None the less, I didn't have any reason to yell at you! :) Thanks, you made me proud! :)

Well, I can't say much more without ruining parts of it for 2012 and beyond. I was happy with many, disappointed with some, glad to be calling my 4 digs by first names now. Some still call me sir and about slap themselves when I laugh. :) Reminds me of the euphoria last year. 2012, the best of times are to come!

Yeah she is a tough little bird Hornet, but somebody has to tell her she ain't Steve Young. She keeps taking shots to the head, you think she would have learned better in Tae Kwon Do. She is currently on proud and happy 4*.

Except for one guy giving longwinded, somewhat annoying answers to yes or no questions, one squad breaking 10 seconds into the first exercise during the round robin, and half my 4 digs disobeying our AOC (on taking the hill--"Don't go! Stay, stay, STAY, STAY!!!)...things went fairly well.

A word to all you 2012ers: When your AOC tells you not to do something, don't do it!

A quick note from me:

I DID see most of the freshmen pull it together and start putting out on Saturday, which I do remember now (looking back) was similar to what happened to my class. It's tough to not let the fear and discouragement at the very beginning of Recognition show, and it's easy for that to come off as a bad attitude, which I think is partly what happened with the negative opinions you see earlier on this topic from 2010.

All in all, much better than before. We still had our bad seeds, but overall, well done. Congratulations, 2011!
