Recommend Some Universities for Me Based on What I Have and Want?

Is Cameron University a match? My test scores seem good for it, as well as all the class, they have Bio and Computer Science… and I Googled schools with the least debt, and this is one of them. They’ll accept my 3 in AP English, and if I do well in my APs this year, they’ll accept my grades from every class, thus saving me money as well.

And the University of West Florida? I found it by looking for the cheapest colleges. And they accept 3s on all exams! (or, at least, all the ones I plan on taking) Not that I’m aiming low, but, you know, just in case.

… chances? By the way, update on my actual schedule.

Leadership (might have half a week of it, and half a week of Math Team, so that’s two classes.)

English Teaching Assistant

AP Studio Art

AP Literature

Gym/Lunch

AP Latin

Latin Teaching Assistant

Latin Teaching Assistant

AP Microeconomics

They couldn’t give me anymore because I don’t need the other classes, while there are students that do. However, Teaching Assistants are graded like an actual class, so that should bump up my average. My counselor told me it counts as most demanding. If it matters, I plan on self-studying for other APs, particularly Bio, as I want to take the Bio SAT.

Not to be a pain, but chances? I mean, time to apply is coming up pretty soon, I’m scared because I don’t know who will accept me. By the way, 6th I’m actually an Art TA, not a Latin TA, but everything else is correct. I know, I know, SUNYs, SUNYs, I will definitely look into them, but for the non-SUNYs I’ve looked up?

@keesh17: Thank you very much for your suggestions. I looked into them, and they seemed like they might be a fit, but I decided against them because they don’t accept many threes. I know I sound picky, but I want my AP tests to count somewhere. But I still appreciate your suggestions! :)

You’re not being a pain. But you are being a bit unrealistic. Simply put, your stats aren’t good enough to get you financial aid at the higher-ranked schools you’re interested in. So that leaves your in-state publics. Or paying full (or near-full) tuition at mid-tier privates.

Instead of burying yourself with APs (which won’t count much unless you get 4s and 5s on the exams) why don’t focus on improving your SAT/ACT scores? They’re key to getting in, and getting financial aid, at the ‘better’ schools you aspire to.

That’s why I chose these two out-of-state schools with the least debt/are cheapest, by what I’ve searched. I am choosing two SUNYs, I just haven’t decided which ones yet.

And I can’t really opt-out of my AP classes now. My school has this thing where once you sign up for a class, you can’t drop it. But I am studying for the SATs (not the ACT. Tried it once, didn’t work. I mean, you could say I could give it another shot, but I think I’m better off focusing on the SAT alone.)

My school /is/ offering an SAT Prep class on Saturdays (and during the week, but I can’t attend those.) It’s $300. I don’t know if it’s any good, and I don’t want to spend $300 and not have my score go up. (I took a free SAT math class in my school, nothing happened to my math score.) I THINK my friend took it, and her score is about 19-something, but I think it was that high /before/ she took the classes. So, I’m really not sure what to do. The sheet said it’s past the deadline, but they’re still announcing it, so I’m assuming there is still room. (and I can ask the person in charge.) I’m taking the SAT twice: October and November, and three SAT IIs in December. Do you think I should go for it? I personally don’t think I should.

Admittedly, I’m very scared right now. Do I start applying to colleges now? Or do I wait until after I’ve received my final scores in November? I don’t know what to do. And if I happen to get good scores in November, that changes the whole college list. Right now, this thread has been here for over a month and I still have nothing. Once I get my scores in November, I need instant choices. ASAP. :/

*CORRECTION: She took the SAT Prep course elsewhere. So, I don’t know how good ours is.

Cameron University accepts over 99% of applicants, so I don’t think you’ll have a problem getting in  It has a rather shocking 4-year graduation rate, though about 7%

University of West Florida is more selective, and more students graduate - though even there fewer than half graduate in 6 years!

So both of them are tier-two regional schools – are they worth the tens of thousands of dollars you’ll pay for them? Frankly, I don’t think that’s a good use of your money.

So should I wait until after I get my November scores to apply to colleges…?

If you think your new scores will improve significantly, sure. But what you really should be doing is – falling in love with your safeties.

So would you say SUNY Potsdam is a safety?

Also The College at Brockport?

[Tuition and Fees - SUNY Potsdam](Tuition & Fees | SUNY Potsdam)

Get the proper numbers from your parents and run the Net Price Calculator at Potsdam.

Another good SUNY to consider would be Plattsburgh!

I looked at all the SUNYs, those two were the only ones I liked…

Are they safeties in terms of whether or not I can get in…?

I’ve lost track of your grade average. At Pottsdam, the minimum is 88, though there are special programs for applicants with somewhat lower averages. Tests are optional. However, there are only 3 semesters of Latin and no teacher certification in Latin.

Brockport seems to have no Latin classes at all.

My weighted average is about a 94 (and probably rising, if that matters. My school’s going to put my current senior average on my transcript at the beginning of November, since they changed the school grading system.), and my unweighted average is about a 90. (just calculated it myself right now, I’ve never known it. The school never tells you your unweighted GPA.)

There are no SUNYs where you can major in Latin. If you guys want me to have SUNYs, I cannot have Latin. Besides, they /are/ my safety schools… they’re my last resort. The other schools I apply to should have Latin.

These SUNYs do accept AP Latin credit; I checked. These also are the only ones far away that would accept all my APs, and have both Bio and Computer Science. Really, they’re the only two that “fit” me best.
