Recommend way of transferring to UCLA

Someone recommended that i post this in the UC sub forum. sorry posted this so many times, just trying to get a lot of opinions

Hey Guys

My friend told me about this site and I've been reading it for a few hours and it seems pretty informative.

Well I'm a high school senior that basically applied to reach schools. 5 universities in total 3 reaches 2 safeties. was rejected by all my reaches (USC, UCLA, and NYU) and got into my two safeties(Concordia and University of Bridgeport) My High school transcript is pretty good in my opinion, could be better, tons of leadership activities and APs. Anyway I am now left with 2 schools i wished i would have not applied to. They both really suck, i get what people mean now when they say apply to safeties you like. Anyway neither college offers a major in film production, which also is a let down. I wish I would have guessed how competitive college admissions were, or at least been counseled right on the matter.

Anyway I'm leaning towards Concordia just because its in California and staying in California gives me priority in UCs , I want to transfer to UCLA, because I think it will be a smoother transfer than USC or NYU only because their film program starts junior year. Anyone have any tips on how to transfer, what classes to take, and how to make myself competitive again through Concordia. I wanted to stay all four years at one university, but I know Concordia will not challenge me enough and for that reason I wish to transfer in two years to UCLA film school.

What will make my application stand out for UCLA film? What should I be doing my 2 years before transferring? Should I contact UCLA about my intent to transfer, or just tell Concordia? I will also apply to other schools, but UCLA has taken my heart as my favorite now, but I know now not to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. Also will my grades and leadership activities in high school be completely useless, or can I still list them on my application?

Anyway thanks for reading and if you can be of any help, please don't hesitate to respond!

why don't you just go to a junior college?

You really should consider Community College; if you want to transfer to UCLA, it really is the best, easiest way of doing so. As, it should be noted, that applicants from CCC recieve the highest priority of all applicants, higher than those applying from Californian 4-years, even. Furthermore, CCC are structured for the reason of CCC to UC transfer, and thus the process if substantially smoother than that of a 4-years.

Also, assist.org, first, lays out exactly the classes needed to be taken to fulfill your major prereqs for the corresponding university; secondly, the IGETC, an agreement unique to CCC-UC transfers allows for an unquestioned agreement of courses which are needed to complete one's "general ed" before transferring.

Yes, almost completely useless.

thank you guys so much. The reason i desire to attend concordia rather than a local CC is because they are offering full merit scholarship there. I will walk away after 2 years paying and owing nothing. I will consider going to a CC though since they give highest priority to the UC's. Too bad my high school record is useless, I guess i will join more clubs at my school.

but.. ur chance of getting into ucla will be much lower if u go to concordia. you still can apply for scholarships and financial aid. I go to my ccc for almost free (14 bux per semester for infinity units) not including textbooks.
