Hi all,
Recently my teacher informed me that she revised my letter of application because she noticed some wording errors in her original letter. My counsellor already submitted my teacher’s recommendation letter to UPenn prior to the revisions. Basically, he submitted the original version that my teacher said had mistakes in it. On Naviance, my teacher just deleted her original letter and replaced it with the revised version. Would UPenn see the revised version or the original version? I have not submitted my application yet.
Thanks!
It does not really matter. The schools are evaluating you. It make no difference if the teacher’s recommendation has some typos.
@DramaIce Honestly, since Ivies are fairly diligent about tracking actions, they might see it. Nonetheless, it’s not a reflection of you at all. As long as the rec letter they do see is in excellent shape, I’m sure it won’t have a negative impact.
@lostaccount Thanks!
@vibrantviolet Oh thank goodness. Thanks for relieving my worries
I mean I guess there’s not much you can do about it now if it’s in. However, I beg to differ from previous comments. A teacher rec is a reflection of you. If the teacher’s grammar is a little off and some more difficult errors to notice are there, I don’t think that will hurt you. However, if there are obvious errors, it shows that you weren’t special enough for the teacher to take the extra time to find and fix errors.
@collegestorm Would you recommend that I contact colleges directly then? and tell them about the situation, asking them to check the replaced recommendation letter? I don’t know if the recommendation letters are in a data base or something. My teacher uploaded it onto Naviance, if that helps
Well my school doesn’t have Naviance so I don’t know too much about that, but I don’t think it would hurt to try to call or email them about the situation.
