Recommendation Letter

I am half way done with junior year and I have no idea on how to get a recommendation letter. What is the proper etiquette, timing, etc. on how to get a recommendation letter. Please help me.

Usually near the end of junior year/beginning of senior year. End of junior year is better because then you won’t have to worry too much about teacher’s getting maxed out on recs and refusing to write more.

Just after class or before/after school go to your teacher’s room or office and ask if they’ll write a letter of recommendation for you. It’s pretty straightforward. When you have a complete college list you should give that and any forms/envelopes etc that they’ll need to submit your recs (organize the colleges by the dates the letters are due). Envelopes should be addressed. Ask your teachers if there’s any additional things they’ll want to write your recs. My school has a specific packet you have to fill out, but not all school might.

After they write all your letters and you hear back from your colleges you usually get them a gift of some kind. But that’s all for later.
