I knoe two are required for AA: guidance counselor and a teacher. Can I add an additional one that, to me, seems really helpful? It's from a UofM Alum so idk if that makes a difference. Can you add a third one and did anyone do so and think it increased their chances?

Bump…

If you want, you can definitely add a third. However, I would only do so if they know you either as a student or very personally. For example, I had a third recommendation letter from my boss during all of high school. Don’t just add one because you think they’ll like an alumni rec; make sure it says something about who you really are. That being said, I’m not sure how much it would help.

Michigan claims that a third or fourth recommendation wont really help you unless the new recommendations bring with them compelling information that isn’t already expressed in the rest of your application. If you feel that this would explain your situation, by all means get another recommendation, if not, I wouldn’t expect another recommendation to make a difference.

Yea it probably won’t. Can a third one hurt me in anyway? I can only see it as a benefit.

It can hurt you if the person you ask to write it for you turns out to be not as fond or hopeful of you as you think he/she is, hah.
